Vehicle Detail

Awesome. Black. Diesel. Clean. Younger than its mileage. If you're looking at this ad, you are probably already a TDI geek. To me, this wagon is the best-looking and most useful of this era of VW TDIs.This B5.5 Passat TDI wagon has had some fairly major engine work done. That's me spending thousands of dollars, and you benefiting. The list includes the following (with mechanic name-dropping solely for you TDI geeks):BSM (Balance shaft modification). Completed by TDI guru Roger Feldt. This is a must. The chain driven system from the factory had a tendency to break and destroy the engine. Replaced with gears!Engine rebuild: probably about 10k miles ago, after an EGR cooler blew and caused an overheat, the head was milled, the block was sleeved, pistons re-ringed, etc. All work done by Roger Feldt and Frank Irving whose custom "Frank06" camshaft was also installed at this time.New (rebuilt) injectors installed about 6k miles ago. (rebuilt by Frank Irving)Transmission rebuilt about 5k miles ago by Mickey at European PerformanceNew headliner!Thule roof-rack installed, and will be included. Yes .. This thing has a rebuilt engine, new camshaft, rebuilt injectors, and a rebuilt transmission. Much to my wallet's dismay, there are no other major things that could die of 'old age' at this point! Issues (in the spirit of honest disclosure)Rear suspension will need a new beam at some point. As it's been described to me, the bushings wear, and then the beam bends, and then your tires will wear out more quickly than normal because it can't be alignment-tweaked enough to address the bushings/beam. This is not a huge deal if you're a DIY'er and not crazy expensive if you're bringing it to a pro.Valve body in transmission makes one particular downshift a little jerky every so often. It's not bad, and my transmission mechanic assures me this is "only aesthetic"; not any indication of a degenerative problem.. Just a small hiccup to notice every so often.Paint actually looks pretty good overall, but has some of the usual road-chips around the front of the hood, and some oxidation on top of the hatch. It's been pretty recently waxed, and cleans up nicely. One of the rear windows doesn't open. The motor is audibly working, but it seems to be detached from the regulator. And, to answer a frequent question: yeah, they sell kits with which you can run this car on vegetable oil. But I have not done that.
