Vehicle Detail
2003 Land Rover Discovery SE7 - 106k miles I bought this Rover in 2014 from Washington, DC in need of new brakes and a power steering pump. According to the previous owner, the truck was driven by his wife and never had any major issues. The truck shows no signs of off-road use or rust, just small scratches and dings. The previous owner also told me that the bumper was cracked by a light impact (looks like parking lot damage, otherwise it would have needed to be fixed, the head light housings are undamaged, but looks like one headlight was replaced and I repaired a crack in the mounting plastic of the other). The truck has never made any loud engine noises, or had any transmission issues or any overheating for me. I have driven the Rover mainly as a second vehicle and have done a few repairs as listed below. - new re-manufactured power steering pump and genuine LR high pressure power steering line/cooler plus fluid change and steering box adjustment- new Nissens aluminum radiator and all cooling hoses, replaced throttle body heater gasket and hoses, installed new 180* thermostat, complete coolant flush and change with Shell rotella truck coolant.- replaced serpentine belt and all pulley bearings (idler, tensioner, and AC comp. pulley bearing)- replaced front main seal and camshaft sensor o-ring- replaced alternator with new Bosch unit as well as a new battery- changed oil twice, filled with Castrol Syntec 0W-40 synthetic right now- installed all new exhaust manifold gaskets and bolts, plus both down pipe gaskets- full brake job including new DOT 4 fluid (all rotors and pads) - calipers in excellent condition- front and rear u-joints checked and greased- front double cardan CV joint rebuilt with greasable u-joints and new centering ball- interior blower/fan cleaned, oiled and rebuilt (very quiet now)- air filter and new wipers Please see all the detailed pictures and the condition section for a list of defects. This truck has shown zero electrical issues under my ownership. The AC is cold, the heat is hot, and the climate control works as it should. The alarm and power door locks all work 100% (only have one key-fob). All other accessories work. Engine always starts instantly. The engine oil was clean when I bought the Rover and the previous owner told me that oil changes were kept up with. The engine runs well. No loud ticking or knocks at idle or underway. I have heard a very faint rattle clatter sound at idle which is the very common Rover cam/valve train noise and to be expected with these engines. Definitely no loud ticking or knocking ever. It sounds no different than any other Rover engine I have had and has not changed at all under my ownership. I have never seen a check engine light. The Rover cruises very well at speed. I have never seen any overheating, even after long hills in the summer. Also, I have not seen any coolant loss. The transmission oil was full and looked new last time I checked. It shifts well in Drive or manually. The brakes are excellent. Stops strong and smoothly. The truck has never had the ABS, HD, or TC lights come on the dash and all three functions work well! I have tested them. This must be one of the good trucks because I know people have trouble with them. Low range works well and engages easily. The truck steers well and tracks straight. Uneven roads lead to some steering wander, but this is more a function of the truck steering design, and not warn parts. All tie-rod ends are tight, steering box is tight, and there are no knocks in the front suspension. Please check the condition box for the list of small issues and ask any questions you have. I have done my best to describe the Rover, but don't forget that it is a 12 year old truck and the price reflects that. The Vehicle is being sold as is, with no guarantees implied or offered. I can work with a shipper if needed. Selling to move on to something new. This would make a nice, safe winter vehicle.
