Vehicle Detail
I've had a couple of the the R129 series SL500 but just was offered up a 2005 SL500 that I just couldn't refuse so up for auction is this very nice 1998 SL500, runs, shifts and looks great and as stated above THE TOP WORKS! If you are shopping for an SL500 having a working top is a must as to get a non working top could cost thousands!! This one is well optioned and it has heated seats, automatic wipers when rain is detected, 2 keyless remotes, Xenon headlights and AMG rims that make it stand out from other SL's! Gorgeous silver color with a rare blue top is a combination not very often seen so you'll stand out in the crowd. Of course interior is equipped with leather, power windows/locks, multi CD, Bose speakers & is in very good shape with the exception of a slight separation on the passenger seat (pictured). In all this is a very nice car but it is not perfect. Since it has 149K miles expect normal wear and tear, the random stone chip here and there but nothing that really detracts from the car's overall clean appearance. The wheels are chrome and have some imperfections due to age and some peel so depending on your plans for the car they may need to be rechromed, powder coated or re-sprayed. Tires are good. Engine purrs and is silent as a Swiss watch and idles all day without incident as the German V8 motors can run for just about ever! Transmission shifts smooth (in fact so smooth you barely notice upshifts) and has no issues. Exhaust is quiet as the day it rolled out of the factory. Please note the ABS light is on but the brakes function excellent. Finally, this car in its past was a stolen recovery and reassigned a VIN by the North Carolina DMV, but title is clear and you would register and insure the car just like any other car. Basically I would have no problem getting in this car and driving across the country. Again this is a very nice car but not perfect so the other items worth noting are the driver door mirror is discolored (pictured), the radio works but the LCD display is bad, the rearview mirror and sun visors were in such bad shape they were removed and will need to be replaced and finally the A/C does not blow as cold as it should so it will need a charge or servicing. If you are in the market for a solid SL this is it as it will sell! Also I am sure I have forgotten something so please feel free to email me any questions and I will be glad to help. I have it for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if it sells locally. Thanks for looking and again contact me with any questions.
