Vehicle Detail

1996 Chevy Monte CarloNo Reserve Auction - goes to lowest bidder. Motor runs excellent, but will need to be jump-started due to an apparent electrical problem. I was still getting 20+ mpg at 225,000 miles. This car has been well cared for, and would be fine if it were not for the upstate New York winters.Transmission was replaced on 1/25/07 at 152,000 miles, and has no known issues.EGR valve replaced 11/3/2010New head gasket and plugs Mar 2012 at 203,870 milesNew gas tank filler pipe 5-2-2012 at 205,523 milesNew front and rear struts in Nov 2012 at 212,520 miles.Horn, power windows, power brakes, power steering, windshield wipers and radio all work fine (one radio knob is missing). Heater and defroster work great; AC may be low on coolant.Snow tires are in great condition (check out the close-up picture).Brakes were maintained as needed, and oil changes were completed regularly to ensure the car was well maintained.Seats were covered over with vinyl seat covers, so the original cloth seats should be in great shape if the vinyl covers are removed. The pictures will show that the car has hand controls; I plan to remove them before the car is sold. There is a lot of rust around the gas tank filler door (rusted through - see picture), and some rust around the passenger side rear wheel housing. There is also rust on the under carriage. I am not a mechanic, so I recommend that you check out the under carriage to make sure this car will be road worthy. This Monte Carlo is certainly worth a look, and even if not road worthy, it has a lot of value for parts. The snow tires alone are worth a quite a few bucks. I checked out sold items for this vehicle on eBay and found that the sum of the parts could be huge. For example used parts for this car have been selling on eBay as follows: engines (not rebuilt) $900, transmissions (not rebuilt) $400-$800, tail lights $15-$29 each, glove compartment latch with key $20, headlight lamps $30 each, starter motor $36, EGR valve $40, rear view mirror $23, trunk lid latch release $29, alternator $40, air flow meter $25, power window regulator and motor $37-$50, AC compressor with switch $95, driver side door $124, dash bezel $75, strut $54, center wheel caps $7-$20 each, washer bottle $25, oil pan $49, trailing arm $50, arm rest cup holder $25, rear side marker lights $10 each, and the list goes on and on. I do not have the expertise, tools, facility or time to sell the parts myself; if you can do this, you can make a lot of money selling the car for parts. Otherwise, check it out and perhaps use it as a winter car. Please note that this is a "where is, as is" auction.
