Vehicle Detail

This little El Camino is looking for a good home and comes with it's original factory warranty! A complete on frame restoration was done and the car is like new, even smells new. First a bit of history about the car. It was purchased on 2/22/72 from Paul Dolembo Chevrolet and Cadillac in Valparaiso, IN at the junction of route 30 and 49. This chevy dealership is still there under the name Team Chevy now. I guess I could list the original owners as someone may have a special connection to the car, they were Eugene and Carolyn Foreman of Valparaiso. The car eventually wound up in Kansas and was on it's last leg when I found it in 2006 at a farm. It had no engine or trans and was in OK shape as the Kansas winters weren't too hard on it. It originally was a dark green with silver trim on the bottom with a 307 and a th350 trans. After bringing it home I found the warranty still in the glove compartment with a stack of papers and registrations. The frame and body were in very good shape so I decided to do a complete restoration. Here is the condition before restoration; the frame had minor surface rust as well as the underside of the bed and floors. The rocker panels are original and 100% rust free as well as the bed, floor, tailgate, doors and hood. The quarter panels were in fairly good shape with minor rot by the wheel wells and behind as well. The fenders had only minor rust on the lower parts. All in all it was a very solid car to restore. The Restoration process. I disassembled the front end and found 1 good fender at a swap meet as well as a better core support. We also found a 350 engine, 3 speed manual trans, and various other parts over the years. A bit of work was done here and there but I kicked it into high gear last fall. My son was finishing up his 2 yr auto body school and brought the car in for new metal and paint. It was decided that it would be good to put all new quarter panels in, as well as outer wheel houses. The quarters and all sheet metal used was from Original Parts Group. Other items to finish the car were from Ground Up/ SS396 and other sources. The quarters were removed and what little rust that was found behind on the bed was sanded out or blasted and an epoxy sprayed on. The doors and tailgate were blasted on the inside as well and primed. The floor was cleaned, epoxy applied, and painted. The underside was sanded and painted as well as the frame and all front end parts. The fenders were sanded and new lower sheet metal welded in. Basically everything was repaired or replaced on the body, there is no rust or rot on the car. Period. Here's a list of everything new: New glass front and rearNew ( front ) upper and lower ball joints, tie rods( inner and outer ) a- frame bushings, stabilizer bar, shocks, springs, wheel bearings, calipers, rotors, rubber brake lines, was converted to disk from drum. Had alignment done. New springs and shocks in the rear as well as brake shoes and wheel cylinders. New power steering hoseNew RH inner fenderNew front turn signal bezels and lensesNew heater core and hosesThe alternator was converted from external to internal and an HEI put in as well, runs 14 volts all the timeRadiator was cleaned, leaks found and patched, and painted. Works well with electric fans in front, stays around 180 190 in city, 180 on highway with fans offNew clutch, fly wheel, throw out bearing, fork and a clutch conversion kit. Everything bolted in fine and works good. Saginaw 3 speed has new gaskets, seals and cross member mount. Has Hurst shifter and works well. Fun to drive! A muncie can be added later if one so chooses..New power brake booster and master cylinderNew bed trim. Looks good but as with any after market piece, there are some minor fitting issues, please study picturesNew headliner, door panels, carpet, and muscle seats from jegs. New gauges tach, water, oil, battery, and a speedometer. The cable was cut so I decided to get a new cable and speedometer and mount to steering column. Engine is a 350 4 bolt main with about 50,000. Put in all new gaskets, head gaskets, water pump, fuel pump, starter, cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Has new motor mounts as well. rebuilt Q-jet carb. Has new hoses and thermostat. Cleaned and painted, runs well and should last a long time. Plenty of pep and power. The tires are about a year old, with plenty of tread left. The rims are an 18 inch style and work well, no clearance problems. The paint is a Nason single stage 1980's Torch Red. It came out fairly well and is going to be buffed out and blemishes fixed this week. It's a 9 out of 10. It's very respectable and is fine for daily driver or shows. No radio. I left that up to whoever buys the car to put in.Still has original bumpersNew dual exhaust and Flow Master mufflers with chrome tips, sounds great! Well, that's about all I can think of at the moment. A lot of work went into the car and it's almost like new, always been in the garage since I've owned it and it never saw rain or snow. This isn't a perfect 100 point show car but a good daily driver that's great for weekends and the occasional local car show. Now onto the value of the El Camino. I have a reserve set on the car at a reasonable and fair price, i need to sell it unfortunately, but I'm not going to give it away either. Too much time and money went into this. Your biding on a rust free solid car with it's own "factory warranty". Paper work is hard to find on older cars like these so that only makes it even more special. Christmas is coming up soon and this would make a nice gift, as well as a good investment. I can hold the car for the winning bidder for as long as you need but I'd like to be paid by cash or certified bank check within 7 days, no paypal. The car has a clear title and is ready for the new owner to enjoy. You can always drive it on a nice day, even in the winter months. If anyone has questions please ask. I have additional pictures and I can send them to you if you want to see a different area of the car. If you'd like to call and find out more I can be reached at 605 359 5403. Lastly, even though it has it's old outdated warranty papers, there is no warranty expressed or implied, car is being sold as is. Thanks for looking.
