You don't see a bike like this come up for sale too often. I came across this bike that is just like one I had back in my college days. Like most middle aged men I was going to recapture the those days again by getting back into riding again. Unfortunately, age is catching up with me. I have developed a permanent inner ear problem that causes occasional balance issues. Obviously, I don't need to be on a bike. So, with great reluctance, this wonderful bike has to go to someone who can ride it instead of looking at it. On to the bike: This BMW R65 is the relatively rare and desirable monoshock model that was bought new by the original lady owner back on May 14, 1987. She is the only one to have ever ridden the bike. I have not transferred the title to me so you will be the next official owner. When she bought the bike she had the dealer install BMW luggage, dual horns, an engine guard and the plexiglass fairing. All are still on the bike. Later she installed an aftermarket LED brake light flasher that is on the rear fender. The bike has never been dropped and although the bike is dusty, the paint should shine like new with a thorough cleaning. This bike is nice. The bike runs and rides fine. No smoke on startup and no weird noises. It needs new tires (age) and should have a service (I don't know when it was last serviced). Everything works properly and even the original tool kit and books are included. It's a time capsule that needs a little elbow grease and a service. I really hate to sell the bike since there are few (if any) like this still out there. However, I have to be realistic about my ability to ride again. Buyer is responsible for shipping.
