(see details below) Vehicle Description This is a beautiful and fun-to-drive car that needs some repairs to be great again. Do a little work, save a lot of $$. This was an $85,000 car when new, now needing just a little love to be back to what it should be. Imagine that V8 purring, top down, racing through the curves without a care in the world......Comfortable leather and sumptuous wood, fine audio, and every power accessory there is, and few more. This is luxury!!! 1998 Jaguar XK8 convertible with 99,177 original miles. Very nice body and paint, good top, great wheels and tires and overall good interior. Drives well with great power, transmission shifts well, brakes, and steering all seem fine. However, the engine idles rough and the mechanic noted lower compression in 3 cylinders- he suspects head gaskets need replacing. Great low mileage car to fix and enjoy. Body looks good and paint has a nice shine- one very minor dent on the right door at the molding- did not even break the paint- very hard to see- looks more like someone leaned on the car. Some misc dings here and there. The top is good and goes up/down fine-needs a good cleaning. All electrics work- wipers, lights, all 4 windows, power mirrors, tilt/telescope steering column, and power seats. The engine starts right up and runs, but due to engine condition (not wanting to run it too long) cruise control and AC were not tested recently. Wheels are all very good with no real curb damage and hardly a mark on them- tires are all 75% tread or better. It has wheel dust discs installed to keep the wheels clean. All emblems are in place- nothing missing. The interior is generally ok and could use a really good cleaning and minor repairs. Good dash, wood, carpets, rear seat, front passenger seat. Driver seat needs some bolster repair, and there is a small split in the top on one door panel. Nice headliner- no rips. The car comes with a matching top boot (the cover that goes over the top when it is down), as seen one of the pictures. Steering and brakes all feel solid- ABS warning light comes on and off occasionally, but the brakes are fine. The car comes with the correct (Jaguar) key and a working remote The sound system is excellent and has a working 6 disc Jaguar (Alpine) CD changer in the trunk. Some major work done in past- new power steering pump and high pressure hose (97,540 miles), new starter (86,600 miles), new radiator, radiator hoses, water pump, thermostat, AC idler, and belt tensioner (55,660 miles). Car has a newer Interstate battery as well- was over $180. The car has a clean California title and current registration (through March 2106). It passed its last California emissions test on 3-25-13, and should pass again once the engine repairs are done. The buyer accepts the car “As-Is, Where-Is”. The buyer is responsible for all costs, repair or inspection, required for registration in his home state, including buyers in California. This is a good project that will make a fun car when done. All buyers should plan to have the car towed or shipped to their location. Trying to drive it any distance could damage the engine further. At the moment there is no coolant in the oil and no oil in the coolant.
