Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1970 Chevelle SS that came from the factory equipped with a 396 and an M21 4-speed trans. This is a genuine SS produced on March 2 1970 in Canada, with documentation from Vintage Vehicle Services (see photos). Modifications have been done to turn this chevelle into one fantastic driver. The original 396 engine has been replaced with a 482 BBC (496 stroker) pushing out an impressive 600hp on pump gas. The suspension has also been upgraded with Hotchkis equipment to provide a more planted feel. Additionally, a vintage air A/C system and dynamat insulation have been installed for comfort. Electronic exhaust, y-pipes with cutouts behind the doors, provide a fantastic engine note on demand through a switch mounted beneath the dash, although the standard flowmaster exhaust is nothing to laugh at. Body gaps on the doors/trunk/hood are excellent, with no difficulty opening/closing. This Chevelle never disappoints when you're behind the wheel. It's reliable, pulls hard, and always turns heads. Drivetrain:-482 BBC producing 600HP at 10:1 compression on pump gas, ~3000 miles since installation (build sheet provided upon request)-Roller motor with hydraulic camshaft and forged crank, rods and pistons-Quickfuel 850 carb with K&N air filter fitted to an Edelbrock manifold-4 core radiator, dual fan, and Weiand pump that keeps the engine below 190, even on the hottest days-Flowmaster exhaust with Sanderson headers and electronic cutouts behind the doors from Doug's Headers, controlled by a switch under the dash-Muncie M21 close ratio 4-speed-Moser Engineering 3.08 12-bolt posi rear-Street fire HEI and summit CD w/ rev limiter-Centerforce clutch-Hotchkis sway bars, A-arms, and control arms Interior/Exterior:-Newer interior and trunk with no rips/tears, overall fantastic condition-Vintage air A/C system (Gen II)-760W pioneer sound system with new speakers/subs, 10 disc CD changer, and custom autosound head unit-Dynamat insulation-Engine Temp/Oil Pres/Volts gauge cluster mounted below dash-Power steering and power disc front brakes-Tilt steering wheel-Dash fitted with original fuel, temp, amp gauges (no idiot lights here)-Owner's manual, spare tire, and car cover provided The vehicle itself is mechanically in great condition, and always fires up without hesitation. Paint is in good condition as well. One scratch on the vehicle, drivers front quarter panel, has been touched up and can be seen in the photos. There are a few other minor chips along drivers door and hood of minimal size (difficult to photograph), but otherwise the paint is in excellent condition with a high gloss and no clouding. Other things worth noting, the clock in the dash is currently inoperable, unknown cause. Air conditioning control sliders stick occasionally, but otherwise works well. Tach reads ~250rpm high at idle. Turn indicators are unresponsive from turn indicator switch, but respond from hazards, leading to believe the selector is bad. Those are the only problems I've noticed with the vehicle, everything else works great. Engine is in fantastic condition, operates smooth. Transmission shifts easily with no resistance. The Chevelle holds true going down the road with no drift nor is there body flex going over bumps or hard driving. Edit:I've uploaded a walkaround and engine startup video to youtube at: 70 Chevelle SS 496 WalkaroundOf note here, no fuel was given to the carb prior to engine turnover. It still fired up and idled smoothly purely off of ignition switch startup. Also shown, the exhaust the switch under the dash being manipulated controls the variable valves to the cutoffs. If there's anything I can provide greater detail of, questions/photos/etc, or if you'd like to see the chevelle in person feel free to contact me via email brandondemski@gmail.com or text/call 951-741-3163. Upon completion of the auction I am requiring a $500 deposit through paypal within 48 hours, and the remaining balance paid within a week by wire transfer or cash. The car can either be picked up locally or I can assist with getting it shipped out. The title will be transferred within 12 business days of receiving payment as there is a lien on the car.
