Vehicle Detail
The Ford Escape is a compact crossover vehicle sold by Ford since 2000 over three generations. Ford released the original model in 2000 for the 2001 model year—a model jointly developed and released with Mazda of Japan—who took a lead in the engineering of the two models and sold their version as the Mazda Tribute. The first generation was made from 2000 to 2006 Although the Escape and Tribute share the same underpinnings constructed from the Ford CD2 platform (based on Mazda GF underpinnings), the only body panels common to the two vehicles are the roof and floor pressings. Mazda supplied the base inline-four engine and Ford providing the optional V6. At first, the twinned models were assembled by Ford in the US for North American consumption, with Mazda in Japan supplying cars for the rest-of-world. This followed a long history of Mazda-derived Fords, starting with the Ford Courier in the 1970s. Ford also sold the first generation Escape in Europe and China as the Ford Maverick, replacing the previous model. For the 2005 model year, Ford's luxury Mercury division released a re-badged version of the Escape/Tribute called the Mercury Mariner, sold mainly in North America. On Sep-27-15 at 06:20:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Note that the vehicle history report shows one minor accident in 2009. I believe the vehicle was in an additional accident before I purchased it in 2013. Several front body parts appear to have been newly installed and/or painted, the front headlights had been rewired, the ignition key doesn't match the door key, and I noticed a few other issues that led me to believe the vehicle had been repaired after an accident not reported on the history report. I purchased the vehicle "as is" with no warranty from a New Hampshire dealer on eBay and had it shipped to me so was surprised to find some of the issues mentioned above, especially since there was no mention of another accident on the history report at that time. If you are using this vehicle for parts / for your personal use then this shouldn't be of concern. On the other hand, if you plan to repair this car and sell it, I feel you and the new buyer should be made aware of a possible accident not on the history report. I don't want any future buyers upset at me after I sell it.
