1957 Ford ThunderbirdAn American Graffiti Look a like car.This listing is for the iconic Ford sports car the 1957 Ford Thunderbird. The two seaters were only produced from 1955-1957 in Ford's answer to the Chevrolet Corvette. This car is a beautiful driver's condition example of what I consider the best year for these cars. This Thunderbird sports the powerful 312 engine along with an automatic transmission and power steering. It is glazed in the classic Colonial White along with a very 50's looking white and green interior. The hardtop is included however the soft top is missing. The engine runs very smooth and this car drives nicely along. Mechanically there are a few things that could be looked at. The brake system should be gone through as there is a slow leak in one of the rear wheel cylinders. The automatic shifter will need some adjustment and possibly some bushings as it is a little sloppy and must be almost into reverse to start the car. There are a few blemishes in the finish but not too many and I have posted pictures of them. Some of the chrome has some rust and pits which can be taken care of fairly easily. Some of the weather stripping is a little dry and cracked and could use some replacement in a restoration. The interior is in very good shape with one tear on the driver's side seat along the seem near the middle. The under carriage is in very solid shape. Some expected surface rust on some of the pans but overall would clean up nicely. No rot through! This Thunderbird is an excellent driver as she sits and would turn heads and catch attention wherever you bring her. Or you could get it in the garage and freshen up some things a bit and with some TLC and a few dollars here and there you could have a show car in no time at all. Any parts you need for this car are readily available through reproduction, used, and NOS. All in all a nice car with a low reserve price compared to cars of this quality. A nicely restored 1957 Thunderbird can fetch $40k or more!The car is being sold as is where is with no warranty written or expressed. I have described the car honestly to the best of my knowledge.
