Vehicle Detail
I am the third owner of this restored motorcycle. The first owner from Indiana had the vehicle for nearly 40 years, and put approximately 21,000 miles on the bike. The second owner from Tennessee did a frame off restoration. It was in nearly concours condition, except for the tank, which remains original. I have had it for seven years, and did nothing additional except to have the magneto rebuilt. It has had just over 2,000 miles since the resto, and these have been only in bluebird conditions--otherwise it has been garaged. Mechanically it is 100%, and has provided trouble-free operation. There are three cosmetic flaws, two of which can be seen in the photos. (1) is a small dent in the tank on the right side, just below the pinstriping and opposite the filler cap and can be seen in the photos. (2) is a shallow, small dent on the top of the tank, which I could not manage to show in a photograph (3) is a scratch on the left side of the back fender approximately 4 inches above the frame, and involves the pinstriping but no dent, so could easily be fixed with some white paint. The tank does have some minor scratches commensurate with its age, but looks very good. If I were to keep the bike, I would probably send the tank to one of the excellent BMW restoration painters. Some of the rubber grommets could be replaced due to some hardening. I believe the photos tell the rest of the story. I can provide more photos if required. I am selling it because I have 15 motorcycles, and due to my age, am selling off some of them, as my children have no interest. I live three hours north of Denver, so if you live in the front range, you would probably come pick it up. If shipment is needed, I would recommend HaulBikes, who provide excellent door-to-door service. Included is original owner's manual and excellent Barrington Restoration and Service Manual.
