Cold AC. Odometer showing 252,847 miles. Runs, drives well, steers and stops straight. Transmission is weak in forward gears- starts slow and then picks up speed and drives normally- needs repair. This is a fun project car being sold cheap for someone to tinker and play with. Selling for less than the value of the front end body parts alone- would be a great parts car but it would be a shame to take apart a good running car. This is a good opportunity to get an XK8 at a great price- replace the transmission and have a fun car, or do a GM LS1 V8 conversion (as described in another item we sell, # 321591878301 here on Ebay) and have a FANTASTIC car, something really different.... Engine starts right up and runs without noise, and idles well. The car itself runs and drives well, the brakes were recently replaced and it has and upgrade set of original 18" Jaguar XJR wheels/tires. These are bigger than the stock 17" wheels and give the car a much more aggressive look and run a big 255-40-18 tire (for better handling, grip, and feel)..The wheels are nice; the tires have some life left but should be replaced in the near future. Good body overall with some bumps here and there- no major body damage. Fenders, hood, doors, bumpers all good. Hood has one small ding, right headlight lens is cracked (but has no effect on light), right headlight washer cover missing (no effect), small dent lower left rear quarter panel near bumper, right door has parking lot dings. Top is in good shape with no tears and good rear window- headliner good and needs cleaning. The gas door latch is broken-another good used gas door is included with the car. The paint is original and looks good overall but is faded in some areas. The matching color top boot (the cover that goes over the convertible top when it is down) as shown on the car in the first 2 pictures comes with the car (this is a $250-$400 item if you needed to buy it). Interior overall ok- shows wear from being used. Good wood and dash has no cracks. Driver seat has major wear on seat backrest leather and seat bottom has wear. Included with the car will be a nearly perfect seat backrest leather cover of a slightly different color and perfect inner foam core-the leather cover- can be recolored inexpensively at home to match interior (the color kit is $24.95 and easy to do- find it on Ebay- search for "Jaguar leather color AGD" - that is the Jaguar leather color code). Passenger front seat ok and rear seat good. Door panels good with some wear from use. The center console cup holder works but the leather on the console lid is worn. Another good used console lid is included with the car (it has slightly different color leather and can be recolored like the seat back will be). All lights, switches, and controls work, AC is cold and top goes up and down as it should. Radio works but display is weak so hard to read. CD player in the trunk has the CD magazine but was not tested. Electric antenna motor runs when radio is turned on and off but mast does not move- a new mast is $20 here on Ebay. AC controls all work and AC can be turned on but the temperature display is weak and hard to read (a replacement panel is $40 on Ebay). Check engine light is on due to transmission problem- will go away when transmission is repaired. Other little things need tinkering- power door locks act odd, the driver door lock cylinder is sticky, etc.,. It's a car to tinker with and have fun- parts are cheap.The ABS warning light goes on and off occasionally but the brakes work fine.The car needs transmission repair and there are plenty of used transmissions out there for sale cheap- even several on Ebay here starting at just over $500. For example, check out item #161601728031 - it is only $599 or best offer!!! You can use any transmission that fits 1998 XK8 or XJ8 (the XJ8 uses the same transmission as the XK8)Or instead of fixing the transmission the car could be converted to GM LS1 power using a conversion kit we sell- see item #321591878301. This is a FABULOUS way to go and makes for a very fun car that is powerful, reliable, and inexpensive to maintain. And you would get a special price on the kit if purchased with the car. The wheels are nice- the tires on that set need to be replaced, but are holding air can be used to move the car around if needed. If the buyer likes that style of wheel instead, they can be swapped onto the car at no cost. The car is for sale locally as well so I reserve the right to end the auction early for a local buyer. Also, a local wrecking yard has offered $1500 for it, but it would be a shame to use it for parts- it's a good running car. I'd rather it go to someone who will fix it and enjoy it. It passed its last California emissions inspection in May of 2014. This is an “AS-IS” sale- the car is being sold as a project and the buyer takes full responsibility for any and all repairs required, including emissions repairs if needed. A buyer in California accepts the car "AS-IS"; it cannot be emissions tested until the transmission is repaired (can't emissions test when check engine light is on)- California emissions test and any repairs required are the responsibility of the buyer.
