Vehicle Detail
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: 1971 Hemi Orange 440 Cuda clone, PRICED TO SELL, with a very low reserve just under 20k. Not a numbers matching trailer queen or show car. I built this car for fun and to actually be driven and enjoyed. This car has always been garaged and has never seen rain or snow in the last decade. Any one out there who is knowledgeable about restoring e-bodys, know you will sink much, much, more than my reserve in parts alone to get one to this level and add lots more depending on the drive train. . Then add another 20 - 30k for labor. This project started with a mostly rust free 1973 chassis. The only rust through was in the driver floorboard, quarters just above the tire and surface rust and pinholes in the trunk. I think the very leaky 318 and undercoating by previous owner or original dealership undercoating helped in the preservation of the cowl area and underside. The car was COMPLETELY disassembled except for the dash and rear seat windows. Fan motor, WS wiper assy. and everything else from the cowl were removed and refinished also. The dual snorkle air cleaner was professionally restored. The vinyl top is brand new, and absolutely perfect. The headliner and package tray are brand new and absolutely perfect. TWO very nice sets of wheels are included in auction. New door handles, door locks and trunk locks. New correct carpet and sill plates. New full quarters and outer wheelhouses from Year One were professionally installed, plasma cut frame rail connectors installed (the kind that fit the uneven shape of ebody floor boards) and trunk was repaired. The frame rail connectors made a big difference in the handling and feel of the car, Front frame rails were in great shape . Rear frame rails still had the orig. honey gold (tan) paint under the heavy undercoating so they were left alone except for more undercoating. It has one OEM gilled fender and one AMD gilled fender. Gill inserts are after mkt. . Original 1971 front and rear valences, tail panel, marker lights, parking and tail lights are installed . New 71 tail panel chrome and Cuda badge. Have two OEM "by Plymouth"badges to go under Cuda tail panel badge but did not install that are included. Road lamps are new and are aftermarket. Installed but never hooked them up. Complete suspension kit was installed (ball joints, bushings, tie rod ends, shocks, seals, wheel bearings ect.) and front sway bar. Brakes were completely rebuilt w/new calipers rotors, drums, hoses, wheel cylinders, ect. and master cylinder. Hoses from master cylinder to engine and going from carb to valve cover are braided stainless with Earls fittings. A stock 440 engine was freshened up with seals, bearings, timing chain and gaskets, not sure the year but kept it low compression. It does not use oil. It will run on 87 octane and has an aluminum intake, aluminum water pump and fabricated aluminum valve covers. . Needs a tune up by someone who knows Edelbrock carbs and big block Mopars. I have been told by more than one person to throw the Edlebrock carb in the lake and use something else. Milder purple cam installed. The heads (not sure what the casting #s are) have been ported and have an Edelbrock intake and Carter comp.(Edelbrock) carb. w/competition SP wires. New starter. Fuel lines under hood are all braided w/Earls fittings. New Holly fuel pressure regulator with Earls fittings. Valve covers are fabricated aluminum. Transmission was built by Sherman Allen Transmissions with a performance kit and has an aluminum finned trans cooler. ALL transmission lines are braided stainless with Earls Fittings. Locking competition transmission dip stick. The 727 transmission can take anything you throw at it up to 500 HP without changing the torque converter. When tuned, the engine is around 400 + horsepower. It has less than 10k miles on it since being installed and needs a tune up. New door bushings were installed when doors were remounted. A new MSD Blaster coil and new Mopar Performance dist. have been installed. All new door rubber from Year One, fuzzies, trunk rubber and hood rubber. Cowl rubber is OEM. Hood, RF fender, trunk lid, both valances and header panel were all media blasted and primed as well as any part that would fit in my media blast cabinet. Thick bed liner was sprayed underside of fenders, I have seen several nice cudas with dents on the tops of fenders going out from rocks thrown from the tires.... hence the bedliner sprayed underneath the fender. Virtually every nut, bolt and screw was replaced with either stainless, high grade, or polished chrome. Spark plugs were changed less than 100 miles ago. Valve covers don't leak and valley pan is clean. WS wipers work. New Holley fuel pressure regulator with stainless hoses and Earls fittings. . New power steering pump. Aluminum radiator. Original restored radiator is included also. This car has no door dings or chips in the paint. Window rubber between front and rear window that attaches to glass is new. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ADDITIONAL ITEMS INCLUDED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!! Also included are a set of Year One 440 Billboard Decals in the box, a very nice set of American Racing Torque Thrust wheels with tires(4), they only need to be polished and I only saw two minor nicks on rims. (1 pictured, and yes! you get the OEM steelies w/new Cooper Cobras and OEM 70s dogdishes too) and a nice 150 MPH 7K RALLYE DASH IS ALSO INCLUDED. Current dash is non rallye. Carpet is brand new. Rear window pkg. tray is new and all inner F/R window trim has been restored and looks great.. I also have a new rear sway bar and all hardware included that was never installed. Windshield is new, all other glass is OEM and looks great and new window kits and fuzzies were installed in both doors. All chrome trim is OEM and still looks good. Several marker light assys. Parking lamp housings. Tail panel emblems. door handles, mirrors and just too much to list. ------------------------- $ Winning bid over 25k will also get an Ebody Painless Wiring kit that was not installed. These are currently around 600.00+ $ ---------------------- ******************************** MY CELL #IS 865-356-1898 ***************************************** 9AM ---9PM M--Sat. 1PM ----9PM on Sundays PLEASE DO NOT CALL UNLESS YOU HAVE FUNDING AND ARE A SERIOUS BUYER!!!! The bad: Driver door panel does not have the Cuda emblem on it. Needs 71 rear bumper bracket to pull rear bumper closer to car and I don't have the chrome bumperettes(?) that stick down vertically. No AC and very few had it. Needs a tune up by someone who knows Edelbrock carbs and BB Mopars. . The kickdown cable doesnt seem to be working correctly. The trunk shuts and opens easily but the gap seems to be too much. I think the trunk rubber I purchased and installed may not be correct or trunk may need a simple adjustment. Aftermarket grille has a crack near RF headlight, needs DrvrS outside C moulding and top and bottom straight chrome. I have 5 of 6 grater chrome and 2 c shaped chrome pcs for r/l outside of grille. Driver side outside cheese grater is from elsewhere on the grill but fits with a littlt help and I have one extra w c trim and cheese grater included. I planned on ordering a new 71 grille since the repos are now so nice, complete and affordable. Driver side door panel looks good to me but close inspection you can see some wear. I have been as honest and ethical as possible in my long winded description but this vehicle is approaching 50 years old so I cannot warranty anything. There is NO radio. It has the original gas tank that was removed and cleaned and has worked perfectly. I have new lenses and reflectors for marker lights but have not installed all of them or plugged them into the markers and have many extras. Paint is driver quality. Needs header gaskets and I don't like the exhaust system. I was going to put a crossover on it. I have the RV mirror but never installed it. Front seats need re-covering. Buns are OK, rear seats have minor defects but look good and they are 73 seats. I have seat covers on the fronts. Dash is cracked but has a new dash cap on it and looks good. Emergency brake cable is not installed but is included in auction . I have never tried to hook up the heater and connecting hoses but you can hear a fan run. Not sure about the heater core. I think the RR marker bezel is upside down? I have several spare complete assemblies that are included in this auction. Front valence insert is damaged and not installed but can be repaired. Any extra Mopar items I have will be in boxes and will go to the highest bidder of this auction .------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have had several surgeries and need more that will include a very long rehab. and I am re-locating closer to family this winter in another state. I am liquidating several car projects, boats, real estate and many, many other items in the next few months. I won't be able to do any more work on cars for a long time and am just tired of working on them in my present condition. That should take care of the "Why are you sellin" Question.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I drove this car to the Pigeon Forge Rod Run 5 or six years ago when the economy was bad, IN PRIMER, with open headers, with no vinyl top, no F/R window chrome, no rear window( just plexiglass), no side glass, no headliner, no carpet, no door /interior panels, only the driver seat, sporting the torque thrust wheels, and it drew a crowd. I had offers buy it for about 2/3 what my current reserve is and many, many more wanting to make a trade. Out of the thousands of cars there I only saw only a 71 340 Billboard car with a "datecode correct" motor , and 2-- 72-74S. Be prepared to talk if you only go to get gas or on a errand. The positive response around this car is just crazy. INSPECTION BY FUNDED, SERIOUS BUYERS IS WELCOME BY APPOINTMENT 865-356-1898 9AM -- 9PM Mon. -Sat 1PM -- 9PM Sunday.
