Vehicle Detail
1951 Ford F1 Pickup This truck started it's second life as a frame-off restoration project in Georgia. It was a project worked on over a 5 year period between two old friends, one in his 60's, the other in his 70's. When the frame, engine, trans and chassis were finally completed, the older friend passed away. The other gentleman tried to complete it but lost interest in the project and I acquired it and had it shipped up to Mass. Unfortunately, work and kid's activities have really limited any free time I have to finish this up and get it registered. Definitely bittersweet. Firstly, this is not a show truck. It is a beautiful attention grabber that can quickly become a nice driver. It is missing some parts such as trim and other small access but it is not missing major components. As it sits, it runs well, drives and stops. Though the paint looks perfect from a few feet away, up close, it's not a professional job. I have the brand new door glass. It needs to be installed along with the brand new door seals which I also have. Needs screws and bolts on some body parts here and there. Also e-brake needs the cable finished and some electrical and dash accessories hooked up. All the wiring is there and intact. The F1 runs, drives and stops. Pump the gas twice, turn the key, press the starter button and it fires up immediately. The truck has been painted in Copper Pearl Metallic. I have a little paint left in the can which goes with the truck. Every panel is metal and is visually rust free. This was a protected/garaged Southern truck and there is no visible rust that I can see. Floors are even solid. The running boards are a little dingy but were prepped fairly well and painted over. It gives the truck character. The bed was refinished in oak with new stainless slats and is gorgeous. The exterior lights are there with the exception of the front parking lights and the tail lights are brand new stainless steel. They just need to be hooked up, but again, the wiring is there. There are only a couple of trim pieces not present - the front V8 Emblem, door lock cylinder and radio delete cover - small items like that. To the best of my knowledge, it appears that everything else is there. The Flathead V8 is original to the truck and was completely rebuilt along with the 3 speed transmission in which the shift was moved off the tree to the floor as well as a new clutch. The motor starts right up on the first crank every time. Almost everything under the body is either brand new, replaced or refinished. The frame was sandblasted and painted, all new brake lines, wheel cylinders and drums, new gas tank, new custom dual exhaust. New springs and surprisingly tight manual steering for the year. The e-brake needs to be connected. Likely that the miles are not 100% accurate as the speedo cable was not re-reinstalled. The radiator is brand new with an electric fan and the entire truck has been converted to 12 volts. No leaks anywhere from under the hood. It has a brand new rug, seat cover and headliner. The windshield and rear glass are brand new as well. As mentioned, the door glass and seals are brand new as well in the box- main windows and wings - need to be installed. It will come with a set of 4 chrome dog dish wheel caps - the caps pictured were my grandfathers and I cannot let them go. This truck is being sold with Bill of Sale only, due to its age without title. I chose salvage because there was no "other" or "none" option. Though proof of prior registration by the former owner in Georgia can be provided and registration matches serial number plate on the truck. If you're doing your own work, there is likely only another $250-300 max out of pocket left to put into this truck to have a truly remarkable driver. It's NOT a $50,000 show truck up close but with two solid long weekends of working on it, you can have an amazing driver that will look like that expensive show truck from a few feet away. Even as it sits now, you can't drive this truck to the store without someone stopping and chatting with you. Though I took a bunch of pictures which are indicative of overall condition and tried to be as descriptive as I could, please ask any questions you may have prior to bidding. Deposit due within 24 hours and payment in full prior to delivery / pick up. I am available by phone, email or text for your questions. I am offering this F1 for $12,000 including shipping up to a maximum of 1000 miles from Raynham, MA.
