Vehicle Detail

Bus starts, drives, stops very well. I bought the bus nearly 4 years ago and only drove it 2,000 miles before I started fixing it up with the intent of using it as a hunting rig. Previous owner showed me receipts for an extensive brake overhaul by Wagonwerks and they work great. He said the seats had been rebuilt. I figured that meant recovered until I sat in them. I believe they were properly rebuilt. I was told the bus had been parked over 20 years when he bought it and the engine was seized. He claimed mileage on the odometer is correct, but I have no way to confirm that. He replaced it with a 1.8 liter with new seals around it, which runs very well. It has a Bosch 009 distributor and 2 barrel Weber carb. I replaced the exhaust, which was shot, with an extractor.Tires are Hankook 6-ply and nearly new. I also replaced the shocks. The body was very solid when I got it. I replaced one outer rocker panel and welded in a small patch in the right rear wheel well. The heater tube was gone, so I replaced it with a length of plastic pipe. I've seen that originals are once again available. The interior was in very poor shape, so I made new veneer for the bed and rear seat. The cabinet was too far gone to mess with, so I made a lower one, which enables you to see out the rear side window after passing. I removed all the wood paneling and refinished it with golden oak Danish oil. I got a refrigerator with it, which I was told is from a Riviera. I had no intention to use it (takes up too much floor space) but I plugged it in yesterday and it works well on AC power. Didn't try it DC. Canvas on the pop-top is new. The child's cot is in very good condition. The "upstairs" cot needs new canvas. Didn't do that because I didn't intend to use it. It has a complete set of curtains. I bought, but have not installed, new seals for the front doors and kits for the jalousie windows. Also bought new heater cables, but found I didn't really need them, they were just disconnected under the dash. They now work as they should. So, if anyone cares, why am I selling? I'm getting a 4-wheel drive camper van, which will get me places the bus shouldn't go. What is still needed: I have the light fixture for the interior rear, but no lens. Don't have the interior light for over the front seats. When I got it, it had no horn and the horn button was wired to act as a dimmer switch. I put the wiring back to stock configuration, then noticed that there is no horn. Wires are there, just no horn. The dimmer switch still doesn't work, though the turn signals do. Took it apart, and the plastic inside is broken. Needs a new switch. There is some rust under the battery that should be fixed. No danger of the battery falling out or anything, but may as well make it really right. There are what I would call normal dents and waves in the large flat areas of the body. I tried to get pictures that show this but couldn't get them to show up. Just be aware, this was intended to be a camper not a show vehicle. It'll look great going down the road. I didn't realize until taking pictures that I haven't had it registered or insured for 2 years (time sure does fly). I've started and moved it around the property regularly while working on it or getting it out of the way to work on something else, so it hasn't been completely idle. I'm selling with what I consider a very reasonable reserve, no warranty expressed or implied. If it doesn't sell, I'll just keep working on it as time and funds allow. As it it neither registered or insured, I have no way to deliver it anywhere, so sale is as is, where is, and buyer is responsible for collection or shipping. I am willing to sell to overseas buyer, but understand I have no experience with this, so import duties and whatever else is involved with that type of transaction is the responsibility of the buyer. No problem if it stays here a while as arrangements are made. As I said, I haven't driven it anywhere but here on my property in nearly 2 years, so may have forgotten some details. I will be more than happy to supply any more pictures or answer questions to the best of my ability.
