Up for sale is my 1968 Pontiac GTO. I like to be as descriptive as possible with my listings. This is a very solid, running/driving GTO, but it needs restoration. Can be a driver as is but needs TLC. Car is very clean underneath, previously titled in California. Was repainted over 14 years ago, I feel it was a poor job, lot of overspray, etc. Looks good from 20 feet, turns a lot of heads, but to me it's a crappy paint job. Correct Solar Red with black vinyl top, black interior. Interior is mostly original except for a past owner applied a repo decal to the dash that is starting to peel. Dash is UNCUT and has one small crack, otherwise looks very good. Has stock AM radio with reverb option (does not work but have never tried to figure out why) Rare automatic on the column, rare bench seat. This is a real 242 GTO, not a LeMans or Tempest clone. Originally had A/C, but missing several parts. Carpet very good, door panels excellent, arm rests show some wear. Rear seat excellent, front seat 7 out of 10? Headliner very good. Car still has the correct original numbers-matching 400-4 YS with 16 heads and Turbo 400 has partial VIN on tag. Original open rear also, and car actually gets very good highway mileage. Has hood tach that works but I do not think it is original to car. Car starts instantly, idles perfectly, runs very good but has some leaks. has headers and dumps, but I will include a brand new set of Ram Air restorations factory RA exhaust manifolds with the car. Sounds very nice with current setup and not loud as to attract attention. Has hide-a-ways that stay up, and they used to work perfectly with the switch, but something happened that I have not investigated, so they stay up unless you manually lower them (most of these cars it's the exact opposite) Has rally2 wheels, very good center caps, has wrong air cleaner and valve covers but I do have a set of GTO valve covers I will include with the car. Shifts very strong (bark into 2nd) and will smoke the tires if you stand on it, has a little hesitation sometimes that can probably easily be corrected with carb tuning. Every once in awhile the starter grinds but the next try will catch and start right up. No hot-start issues at all, starts right back up when shut off hot. Have had no issues with overheating, etc. Has soft-ray glass, power steering, power brakes, clock. Have PHS docs and some previous owner receipts. I had bought this GTO for my wife and intended to restore it but we have way too many cars and I need space. (I own several GTOs) Car has what I think is a very reasonable reserve and keep in mind the car runs and drives and is all there. never going to be a high-dollar model but is nice enough to save or drive as is. The trunk is solid, the floor pans are amazing, it's just that crappy paint job. Hood is has some minor kinks, Car appears to never have been a rust bucket, really is very clean frame and undersides. Does have typical small rust bubbles under the top but the top is in very nice condition. Is a great cruise-night car and turns heads.
