Vehicle Detail

1976 Spitfire that is turn key and ready to go anywhere. The car has new metal all the way around , its runs and drives nicley. Lets start with the new parts, new brake mater cylinder, new rotors , new bearings, new stainless brake lines all around, new wheel cylinders, new pads and shoes . New shocks all around, new trunnions , all new suspension bushings in the front.New ball joints, new tie rod ends, new protective gators . New aluminum radiator , new heater hoses and radiator plumbing. New windshield seal. New distributor and coil. New fuel pump and copper fuel line to the new fuel tank. New header mated up to a monza exhaust system. The exhaust was used but it sounds fantastic. Its got a true vintage sports car sound. The HS2 carbs have been rebuilt with new needles and jets + the needles and floats in the pots were replaced as well. The Carbs also have new throttle shafts , butterfly valves and sleeves to bring the shaft tolerances to factory spec. Tires are 1.5 years old but are nothing to even consider replacing at this point , you have 10s of thousands of hot summer miles left. The speedo cable , throttle cable and choke cable are all new . Battery is 1 year old. The dash fascia is original and has a great patina to it, very nice color that closely matches the wheel. The seat skins are new as are the complete foams . The carpet is 1 year old with new rubber mats to protect the footwells. The spare tire is the correct 1976 wheel with a brand new tire that matches the tires on the car. the original tool set and trunk mat are also present. The top is in excellent shape as is the boot cover and the tonneau cover. All instruments work , all lights work , turn signal, horn ,reverse lights, etc , all work. I added a smiths oil pressure gauge and a smiths clock. The oil pressure gauge has a special adapter that I picked up in England , it allows both the mechanical gauge to work as well and the oil pressure light on the dash. A bit of history on the car, after purchasing I ran the block number and was surprised to discover that the engine was actually a very very early 1500 from 1974. Even though the 74 engine runs great and is the current power plant the fact is was not numbers matching has never really set right with me so I tracked down a 1976 engine and trans .This correct rebuilt engine is also included with the car ,The engine has been bored 20 over , it has new bearings throughout, new timing chain and also SOLID BRONZE thrust washers that were custom made for the engine. You also get a new clutch , master cylinder, slave valve and NOS release bearing correct for the 76 assembly . The bearing and the clutch arm assembly are already rebuilt and in place. The engine is "plug and play, it just needs to be installed. I was waiting until the snow flys before installing it, I do not want to waste any potential windshield time over the summer! Geeez , its quite a list !! Ok so for the things that are not so good, the floor pans are solid as a rock but the install doesn't look so good from under the car . The paint looks nice until you really start to look at it, you will find mild orange peel here and there. Ignition key only. The stripes on the hood and deck are vinyl and are applied . The 2 arms that go from the frame to the rear bumper have a cladding of some sort welded on them, you cant see them but they also do not look the best from under the car.. The drivers rear control arm surface was week so I added a metal plate and cured the problem, no issues since . The rear end has a drip that requires you to top it off once a year. Miraculously, no leaks anywhere else!! The carbs are ferrel and behave diffrently from summer to fall. Higher idle in the cool , lower idle in the hot. For the life of me I cannot figure this out and have submitted to their will. I regularly take the car on 100+ mile journeys and it behaves flawlessly, its never left me stranded, ever. I would drive the car anywhere . I will say , be prepared for your gas station experiences , I always have at least 1 person walk up to talk about the car or to tell me their Triumph/MG story, these cars have a place in a lot of memories out there. After winning I do expect payment within a few days of purchase and will need to verify payment has been received before I will let the car go. If you need help with shipping I do have a classic car transporter that I have used , he will travel anywhere in the states and only does classic cars. If I have failed to cover anything just shoot me a message and Ill get you an answer. FYI to the Buy it now Buyer only , you will also receive a pristine factory hardtop, over 700 invested in its restoration. Zero rust ever , new paint ,new seal on back glass along with a new finisher, new headliner, new doors seals, correct mounting hardware. The hard top transforms the experience during he cooler months!! This top will not go with the car unless you select buy it now. If you want to offer for the car by itself, car with top and no engine or whatever combo, Ill certainly consider working in that framework.
