Turning heads and putting smiles on people’s faces are what this fully restored 1968 Buick Skylark Custom convertible does best. The older restoration preserved the best “classic” features while making the Buick low maintenance – a perfect combination that makes this car a drive-around-town worthy classic. The new 350 c.i. crate engine has less than 1K miles on it. It has a newer top, great chrome and rubber, and a well cared-for interior. Only non-stock items are the dual exhaust, well-done re-paint (chrome and such were removed during the repainting) and the raised letter tires. Because of the quality of the restoration and the car’s attentive care since then, there’s no rust and it’s incredibly clean throughout. This beautiful convertible was purchased at the Fall Auburn Action in 2008. Since that time this convertible has only been driven on sunny, dry days – never in rain or inclement weather – adding less than 500 miles to its odometer that now reads 81K miles. When not getting thumbs up from passers-by on the road, the Buick Skylark convertible has always been garaged in a temperature controlled environment with a custom car cover that’s also included. Of course, full records of maintenance during its current ownership are available. This Buick convertible is a fine driver’s-car (& rider’s car). It’s solidly built, well-restored and in mechanically tip-top. The car isn’t so perfect that one would worry about its value dropping every time it went for a spin around the block. The only quibbles are either easily fixable, like the radio which doesn’t work but could be replaced with an updated or original style version, or not really noticeable, like a couple of minor paint flaws.
