Vehicle Detail
This one family car (have title showing this) has been stored and in a garage for up to the last 20 years. It is in 'unmolested' condition. It has the original interior which is in good shape without rips in the seats. It is an ORIGINAL CALIFORNIA CAR, Los Angeles, for which the original black plate is still in the clean trunk. The trunk is in great shape and so are the inner quarter panels; doesn't look to have ever been wrecked. I personally have not seen a body this clean on an unrestored early Camaro... since the 80s. These cars are notorious for having rotten out quarter panels, fenders, trunk floors, and doors (etc) that have been repaired or replaced. I haven't seen any aftermarket sheetmetal panels on it whatsoever. I looked for body filler and took a magnet to it, good solid metal. We lifted the car up in the air and did not see a single rust hole in the floor, and did not see any patches whatsoever on the floors. Original floors look good, no holes in trunk floor either. You will be very challenged in finding one like this for this price. I do not see any body rot holes in the body at all, save for the right front fender which has one small hole at the wheel lip, and some pinholing beginning on the lower section near the door. I do not see any holes in the trunk, quarters or anywhere else! This is a true FIND! Don't bother buying a different one that you have to buy 8 body panels for, this one is SOLID!!! The Transmission is the desirable 4 speed with the original console, still intact. Transmission shifts through all gears, clutch operates fine. I believe the engine is a Four Bolt Main 350 cubic inch (Code is TYW) with a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor, camel hump heads and original style intake and unmodified exhaust manifolds. I've just had my mechanic install new distributor cap, new spark plugs, new rotor, new brake light switch (lights work), fresh oil change. Came factory equipped with Power Steering, original V8 car. Car has original grill, hood, rally wheels. Rear axle is a 12 bolt and it has multi leaf rear springs. Glass is all in good shape without cracks. Windows roll up and down. Car is complete, straight body. Engine starts right up and runs smooth. Brakes stop it, power steering sounds good. Car runs and drives. If you are a SERIOUS buyer with cash in the bank, then please by all means bid and win it! Reserve is conservative for what I've seen on here for Early Camaros. This is an EXCELLENT foundation to a very clean restoration for you or your client, if you are a builder. History as I know it on this vehicle is as such:A friend's neighbor had it in his family since 1969. It was purchased in California new, or near new in 1969 and spent the majority of its life in CA. It spend a brief time in TN (2 years I believe) and then was brought back to CA and stored in a garage where it did not move for 10 years. We put clean gas in it, a fresh charged battery, and it fired right up! I have not seen any smoke coming out of the tailpipes!!! I was planning on rebuilding the carburetor and would be happy to for the buyer, unless you have other plans for the engine compartment (?) It does currently run fine and will idle. It has not stalled on me at all. Also has an upgraded four core radiator. It has not overheated on me. Surprisingly, even the horn works. FYI, in 1968 there were no indicators to prove if a camaro was an SS from the data plate. Original color was a silver green, I believe the same as mountain green. 712 trim code black interior, had a black vinyl top. I have driven it around the block and in the neighborhood a few times, I like the way it drives, engine feels smooth to me, feels solid. Other than a small exhaust leak in the right side pipe, I have no complaints. Typical drum brakes, with a bit of pull in the front. Suspension felt good and solid to me.
