Vehicle Detail
This is a one of a kind original survivor. You or I are not likely to see anything like this ever again. This bike is better than new with less than 1700 original miles. The bike was obtained from the original owner’s estate. It was meticulously restored with the focus on reliability gained with five decades of enduro racing and woods riding experience. I restore these old bikes so they look and run better than they did when they were new. My love of these old bikes and giving them a new lease on life brings me a great deal of satisfaction. The reliability of these TS bikes is legendary, so this bike is something you could realistically expect to hand down to the next generation. This bike had 1,650 original miles on it and was in great condition when I started the restoration process. All available factory options are present, including turn signals, engine protection plate, luggage rack, and factory tool kit with original tray over the air cleaner. This bike now has less than 1700 miles on it and is restored to give the new owner many years of reliable riding pleasure. I am twice retired with over fifty year’s experience riding and restoring vintage motorcycles. My first two cycle engine rebuild was at age fourteen in my bedroom of my parent’s home. Managing a Suzuki motorcycle shop in the early to mid 70’s allowed me to receive extensive Suzuki mechanical training and support my Enduro racing habit on what is now called the Black Jack Enduro Circuit. Of course, I raced a TS250.My restorations begin with the fuel system. The fuel tank is cleaned then chemically treated to dissolve any rust. The fuel petcock is replaced and gets a new rubber seal. A new fuel line and filter feed the meticulously cleaned and rebuilt carburetor. The totally inadequate stock foam air filter is replaced with a new K&N high flow filter that perfectly fits in the bike’s original air box. I’ll include the stock filter if you want it because it is the only thing not stock on the bike. The boot connecting the air box to the carburetor is replaced with a NOS (new old stock) rubber boot. The carburetor will be jetted for your altitude. The engine runs better than it did when it was new. The cylinder exhaust and intake ports are ground and polished to remove casting mismatches between the cylinder casting and sleeve smoothing out any rough spots. The cylinder and piston are well within factory tolerance so were fitted with NOS rings and cir clips. The cylinder was ball honed to chamfer the port edges and remove glazing allowing the new rings to seat properly. The oil injection pump was removed and tested for proper operation. The pump is then adjusted for proper oil injection and bled for correct operation. The oil lines to the intake manifold and big end engine bearing are replaced. The bottom end oil seals around the clutch operation rod, kick starter, and gear shift shaft were replaced with NOS units. New oil is installed in the gear box. The clutch was completely disassembled with the friction plates and springs measured to assure they were within factory specification. The clutch is properly adjusted and a new clutch side gasket installed to assure there would be no leakage. New cylinder base and head gaskets are installed and torqued to specification. A new standard heat range NGK spark plug is installed and gaped properly. The exhaust pipe, clean out tube, and spark arrestor are heat treated to remove any carbon buildup and repainted with heat resistant flat black paint. New exhaust pipe gaskets were installed. The paint job started with all items taken down to bare material, dents pulled and filler applied to smooth things out. The items were then properly primed and four layers of color applied with a factory original Scarlet Red paint specifically formulated for harsh outdoor environment. Decals are carefully applied to duplicate the original look. At least four coats of clear coat cover everything for long lasting protection. My paint jobs aren't perfect, but are much superior to the original paint.New DOT certified tires, tubes, and rim strips are installed then the wheels balanced. All wheel bearings are removed and repacked or replaced as needed. The swing arm is properly lubricated. The rear hub drive cushions were checked for excess play. Brakes are inspected to be within manufacturer specifications and adjusted properly. The chain was cleaned, tested to be within specification, lubricated, and tensioned correctly, and there is an extra master link in the tool kit. The rear shocks are tested for proper operation. The front forks are tested then refilled with fresh fork oil.The bike received new handlebars, mirrors, and levers for both the brake and clutch. All the cables were lubricated and properly adjusted. A new seat cover is installed. The electrical system is fully functional with a new brighter LED tail/break light installed. A new battery is installed, taking and holding a charge. The battery is not required for the bike to run, however it allows emergency lighting to operate when the bike is not running. To the best of my ability and knowledge there is nothing at all wrong with this bike. The bike is street legal in Colorado with a clear title in my name. It is ready to ride the day you get it. I will cooperate with the shipper of your choice and meet them in a place convenient to both or help you with the selection of a shipper.
