Vehicle Detail
The XJS Jaguar was the replacement for the Iconic XKE Series Sports Car. With its 5.3 Over Head Cam V-12 motor long sleek lines the car was re-positioned more as a GT high speed cruiser than the Light powerful sports Car that the Jaguar "True Believers" were expecting and clamoring for. For this and other reasons the sales of the XJS were initially slow. Over time however they not only picked up but in fact become the best selling and longest lasting model of the Jaguar line! As the 70's turned into the 80's the one thing that the Jaguar customers continued to demand was a convertible! For various reasons the XJS convertible was delayed and slipped further and further behind. In order to not continue to loose this valuable market share they decided to produce a stop gap model Thus the XJS"C" was born! The "C" stands for Cabriolet. What they did was pull unfinished bodies from the production line load them on trucks deliver the unfinished bodies to the Aston Martin Trim Shop at "Tick Ford" There the unfinished bodies were converted to the "C" specification. This meant a fixed "Hoop" that tied the top of the open cockpit together giving it stability. Underneath a "Model only" sub-frame was bolted further tying the car together structurally and in the end producing an extremely ridged light structure! For the "Removable top, the front has two removable panels that could store in the trunk and a larger removable rear widow section that could be left at home , or in summer months be replaced with a "Folding top" "Landau style" affair. The interior was also hand done and trimmed to an extremely high standard. IN short the car was oozing quality and class! During the XJSC's two year run less than 6,000 total cars were built and sold, interestingly though they were 40%+ MORE expensive than the already pricey XJS Jaguar is rumored to have lost many tens of thousands of pounds on every car built and sold! Its quality and rarity has begun to finally pay dividends however as the "C" model is now one of the most collectible models available. My car starts , runs drives, stops and is amazingly solid. It is rust and damage free and ready to be "Gathered together" into a fine and collect-able daily driver. The car comes with manuals and books ad many additional parts. I am happy to answer any questions so do not hesitate to ask!
