Mazda RX-7 Convertible Was eating lunch and this popped up on a local swap page. Always wanted one and just went and got it. Drove it home and there it's sat since January. Have too many projects and just have to clear some of them out. You'll be seeing that in our listings over the next couple of days. We are very experienced back yard mechanics. This looked like a great project as it's all there, seems to run great, had a new clutch just put in, just had that rear end clunk to fix to make it drivable. With a bit of research figured that it's the spherical bearings in the rear that these tend to have issues with. Near as I can tell it's mostly original with the exception of the seats which are in poor condition. Aftermarket rims are in my opinion over sized and need replaced. They also have a lot of curb rash on them. I have four matching but they would need sent out for significant refurbishment, I think they are scrap. Body is straight and all there. Some average dent knocking out was done in a couple of places. The vehicle has aftermarket fuel, exhaust and air intake systems. Can't rule out that someone wasn't running it hot on the street or around a track at some point...however...it's sitting there in street legal configuration. I drove it home and it had brakes. That's the extent of my testing or looking at them. I'm going to reprint my detailed description from above. Rotary engine does not smoke or show obvious signs of problems. Has a clunk in the rear which we have diagnosed as bad spherical bearings, but no guarantee that's it. Can be driven but we suggest trailer-ing it out. It's a convertible. Roof is all there no tears but rotted thread at the seams as shown in pictures. Aftermarket rims with significant curb rash. Aftermarket exhaust. Custom Fuel. Aftermarket racing seats in poor condition. Dash good, instrument cluster is not attached. Some cracking as shown on the lower cowl. Some obvious areas of repaired dents above handle on the driver's door and middle of passenger door. Should be repairable. No significant rust or obvious frame damage.
