UP FOR AUCTION IS MY 1968 GALAXIE 500, 2 DOOR HARDTOP. IT IS EQUIPPED WITH A 390 4 BARREL ENGINE WITH A FACTORY 4 SPEED. IT IS JUST 1 OF 89 EQUIPPED AS SUCH FROM THE FACTORY ACCORDING TO THE MARTI REPORT. I BOUGHT THE CAR 4 YEARS AGO FROM A MAN WHO HAS HAD IT ABOUT 33 YEARS IN SUNNY CALIFORNIA. IT IS RUST FREE AND NOT BEEN IN THE WINTERS HERE. I HAVE DONE MUCH WORK ON THE CAR IN THE TIME I HAVE HAD IT AND IT IS A NICE DRIVER. THE BODY AND FRAME ARE ROCK SOLID WITH NO RUST THROUGH ANYWHERE. I HAD THE GALAXIE PAINTED SOME 4 YEARS AGO IN ITS ORIGINAL WIMBLETON WHITE COLOR. THE BUMPERS WERE REPLATED AT THAT TIME ALSO. DOOR AND TRUNK WEATHERSTRIPS WERE RENEWED AS WELL. THE PAINT SHOWS WELL WITH NO BUBBLES, RUNS OR OTHER ILLS THAT COME WITH A SOFT CAR. ALL SHEET METAL IS ORIGINAL AS BEST AS I CAN TELL. THE BODY IS STRAIGHT AND THE TRIM IS ORIGINAL AND SHOWS WELL. I DID RECOVER THE FRONT AND REAR SEATS WITH ORIGINAL GRAIN AND STYLE SEAT COVERS. THE CARPET WAS REPLACED AT THAT TIME, THE REST OF THE INTERIOR IS ORIGINAL AND SHOWS WELL FOR AGE. THE DASH PAD HAS CRACKS, ALL GLASS IS GOOD. I HAVE SOME PAPERS FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER, JUST NORMAL STUFF ALTHOUGH HE DID HAVE THE 3RD MEMBER REBUILT AND REPLACED THE 31 SPLINE AXLES. HE STATED THE TRANSMISSION WAS GONE THROUGH AS WELL BUT NO PAPERWORK FOR IT. I HAD THE FACTORY SHIFTER REBUILT AND IT SHIFTS NICELY WITH NO SYNCRO ISSUES. I ALSO REPLACED THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS AND SHOCKS. THE BALANCE OF THE FRONT END WAS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER AND IT TOOK AN ALIGNMENT VERY WELL. IT DRIVES DOWN THE ROAD NICE AND STRAIGHT AND DELIVERS THE RIDE YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM A FULL FRAME CAR. THE BFG'S WERE NEW WITH ONLY ABOUT 1500 MILES ON THEM. IT HAS POWER STEERING AND MANUAL DRUM BRAKES, BOTH SYSTEMS WORK PROPERLY. IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL "H" PIPE ON IT WITH NEW FLOWMASTER TYPE MUFFLERS AND CORRECTLY BENT TAILPIPES. IF YOU WANT A FAIRLY HARD TO COME BY CAR WITHOUT PAYING CRAZY MONEY, THIS MAY BE FOR YOU. THEY BUILT 89 OF THESE AND I WOULD FEEL PRETTY COMFY KNOWING YOU WILL NOT RUN ACROSS ANY ONE OF THE OTHER 88 CARS OR EVEN HEARING ABOUT ONE. IT'S ALL IN THE MARTI REPORT AND DATA PLATE. IT'S PRETTY HARD TO FIND ANY TYPE OF COLLECTOR CAR WITH THE ATTRIBUTES THAT THIS ONE HAS FOR THAT MONEY. MANY HAVE CALLED WITH QUESTIONS ON THE CAR AS WELL AND I THANK YOU FOR THAT. ONE OF THE QUESTIONS I GET ON A REGULAR BASIS IS IF THE CAR IS ROADWORTHY TO DRIVE OUT OF STATE. MY ANSWER IS YES, I FEEL THE CAR CAN DRIVE ANYWHERE, ALL BELTS, HOSES, TIRES ETC ARE NEWER WITH FEW MILES. OIL HAS JUST BEEN CHANGED AS WELL. ALSO, THE BLACK AND YELLOW PLATES ARE ORIGINAL TO THE CAR AND GO WITH IT.
