I purchased this Touareg about a year ago after an extensive search for just the right one. I drove from Ann Arbor, MI to Cleveland to get this Touareg and was thrilled with my purchase until a few months into driving it, a rubber fitting in the radiator failed on my way home from work and I did not pull over and shut the engine off in time and ended up cracking the cylinder head due to overheating. During my initial few months of driving this vehicle it ran and drove beautifully. It really felt like a new car on the road.I've had my Touareg at a shop for the past several months while the owner of the shop searched for the correct cylinder head to fix the engine. After way too long of an ordeal and allegedly ordering two separate (wrong) heads for this engine, the shop went out of business and the owner abandoned my Touareg project. I think the best course of action at this point is to find a 3.6l engine to put into the vehicle instead of trying to put the original engine back together. I have too much time and money wrapped up in this to continue the project so I am hoping someone mechanically inclined can take this over and have a beautiful Touareg at a good price to drive for years to come. Currently the engine is pretty much torn apart and out of the vehicle although all the parts are in the back of the Touareg. Other than the engine being out of the vehicle, it is a very nice, low mileage Touareg in a beautiful color combination. This Touareg was in an accident about 10k miles ago (before I purchased it) which is why it has a rebuilt title. If you do a google image search with the VIN you will see some pictures of the minimal damage the car sustained. It was really only the hood, a little bit of the bumper and a fender that was damaged. I had the car thoroughly inspected before I purchased it and there were no issues, otherwise I would not have bought it. Obviously this Touareg will have to be towed from the current location in New Hudson, MI. I did find a 3.6l VW of North America remanufactured crate motor for this Touareg in GA for $1,000 but decided the project is just too much for me to take on but I can put anyone interested in touch with the gentleman who has this motor available.
