Vehicle Detail
Hi, I will start by saying that I have only owned this vehicle for about a week, so I don't know everything about it. I bought it for a road trip to California with friends, who suddenly bailed the second I bought it. Not paying the fuel bill alone to drive this beast all the way there, so it is sadly up for sale. It is a 1986 Ford Econoline, converted to a camper van by Falcon. It used to be a class B van, but the previous owner stripped the interior of the toilet, TV etc. The guts for it are still there, so it could be used that way again. I bought it in Georgia and drove it home about 500 miles and it did great on that trip. Before I bought the van it had been sitting for awhile and not driven much over the past five years, just a few out of state trips. It will be in need of an airing out and wash/wax. The inside now has long bench seats with a small fold down bed in the rear. It also has small fridge and a bar. And a stripper pole in place of the old table. That can be removed and the table re-installed (the table is included). The front passenger seat swivels around and I believe the drivers would also if not blocked by the bench. It is super roomy inside, I am a bit over six feet and can stand up no problem. It has the over the cab sleeper which children can sleep in. The previous owner said it had just over 100k on it, but the old title does not list the mileage. The odometer only goes to 100k before flipping over, so I suppose this van could have 200k. I don't believe it does just based on the condition of the pedals/seat. The new title (Virginia) lists the mileage at 103k. It started right up no problem the first time, but likes to warm up a bit before you take off. It died when I gave it too much fuel right away. After a few minutes it was running like a top, and I did not have a single problem with it the whole trip home. It has the 5.8 liter V8 351 engine, with two fuel tanks. Both tanks work great, there is a switch up front that you can flip to change between them. Really nice having the fuel gauge almost empty while driving, flipping a switch and watching it go back to full. A few things I noticed that will need work:-Left front blinker does not work-Drivers seat belt has trouble retracting-AC needs charging-Key does not open the two front doors, only the side door. You can still open can close them when unlocked just fine.-Some rust bubbling up on the rear fenders-It was previously partially painted on the lower half, and it does not really match-Cigarette lighter does not work-Needs new windshield wiper blades-One of the running lights is partially broken on the side. Being honest, I think the photos make it look better than it is. It really needs a good cleaning and some TLC. I was also going to do a full tune up on the engine. Having said that, it did drive over 500 miles on the interstate at 65 mph this week like a champ. Plenty of power, climbed right up the long gradient on I-77 crossing into VA from NC
