Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 2001 Mercedes Benz SLK230 with a clear title and 197K highway miles AS IS that was involved in 2 accidents. As you can see in the photos the front end is a little messed up. Other than that the car is in good condition with small dings here and there but with some repair it can be brought back to its glory. It is fully loaded with heated seats, 6 Disc Changer, Supercharger (Kompressor) etc. This car used to be my baby, I kept it clean and maintained until the accident and me not having the money to fix it. The car is mechanically maintained and the engine still runs like a champ. Those regular 3000 miles oil changes kept my engine in real good condition as well as me never beating on and also it saved me gas. By my monthly gas bill calculation for this car I get around 30 mpg, I mean why would I buy a hybrid when I can drive a car like this that gives great mileage and a bonus of it being a convertible. The roof works fine except it won’t lock because the relay switches went bad. As I mentioned before this car was involved in 2 accidents but nothing major was damaged as I still drive it with the messed up front. First accident involved a family member with health issues who passed out in the car on a hill at a red light, their foot came off the brake pedal and the rolled into the car in front. The first accident caused the front end to get messed up but nothing major was damaged. Second Accident involved the tie rod to break out of nowhere making my car go out of control and off the road hitting the curb and into a grass. The curb managed to break the control arm in the left wheel and bent shock. I replaced everything in the front suspension for both front wheels to be safe after that accident with OEM Lemforder parts. I still have the receipts of the parts I ordered. The front end needs a new bumper support (I have the replacement) as well as new headlights since the older ones clips broke. The hood seems to be fine in shape. The pink thing you can see in the picture on the hood is some bondo I put on there because the paint chipped off and I didn't want to leave it exposed to get rusted. There is NO rust on this car anywhere. it will probably need a new bumper or you can just get this one refurbished by some professional for a lot cheaper. When the accident happened I was quoted to fix the front end from around $1000-$1500. Other things that need fixing on this car: 1. Check engine light on due to an electrical issue of the radiator fan. If you connect the engine temperature sensor wire the radiator fan won’t turn on so to bypass it you have to leave it unplugged and that causes the radiator fan to turn on only when the car is on. 2. BAS/ESP Light on, this is a common SLK problem, and it usually involves either sensor replacement or there is dust in the sensors in the wheels. I cleaned them last time and the light went away for a while. 3. The roof not locking itself because the relay switches in the roof went bad. I have replacements that I will give with the car. Once the roof is back up you have to manually lock it by twisting the screw on the top. 4. It definitely needs new springs all the way around for a smoother ride and strut/shock replacements in the rear. 5. The AC does not work. The gas leaked but who needs AC when you have a convertible. 6. The dashboard in the car could use some refurbishing such as a repaint (common slk problem). The dash under the steering column in the picture is also lose because the clips holding it made from plastic broke off. **My Reserve Price is not high at all, its just a precaution for what I am hoping to get for this car** If you would like to check it out please let me know beforehand so I can arrange some time. I will not ship this car to you no matter what reason you give me because reasons. You can pick it up and drive it as its drivable or arrange your own shipping and I'll be willing to help load the car for you. I require a $350 Deposit at the end of auction non refundable. You have a week to pay for it, I am flexible but if it takes too long I will relist. I will take Cash, bank transfer, or a check but the money will need to be cleared before you get to the shipping. Please for the love of do not waste my time or your time by bidding on it if you can't pay for it save us both the hassle. If you have any specific questions let me know and i'll get back to you. On Feb-15-15 at 12:40:25 PST, seller added the following information: Some things that were confusing people so to clear them.Things I am giving away with the car:1. OEM Mercedes Bumper Support2. OEM Mercedes Front Grill3. OEM Mercedes Roof Relay Switches The Front headlights are stock OEM Mercedes halogens natural light and not xeons or anything. They work but the clips that hold them are broken, so you'd be better off replacing them.
