1978 Ford F250 4x4 Crew Cab short box. The truck has just been retired from ranch duties but still has a lot of life in it. It has all the great components of 1978/79’s Fords that make it a good start to a project. Drivetrain: Frontend is a high pinion Dana 44 with disc brakes and Warn Premium hubs. Rear end is a Dana 60. 400m motor. Transmission is a NP 435 4 speed manual. Transfer case is NP205. Has the solid 78/79 style power steering set-up. VIN Plate identifies the gear ratio as 4.10’s Body: The grill has been changed out at some time to an earlier style grille, however it is fairly damaged from its previous life. Doors are solid and have some dings and dents but are not rusted. All door panels are in place but they do have some damage with the drivers front door being the worst. The roof does not have cancer but has been beaten up. It has significant dents and has a patch area (reason unknown). There is heavy surface rust on the interior side of the roof, but doesn’t appear to have any cancerous rust. Drivers floor has one cancer hole the size of a quarter, and several weak spots (can be seen in floor pictures). Front fenders have dents and dings. Hood is fairly solid. Truck will come with flatbed mounted but will include a short box bed as well. Short box bed:Bed is in fair condition. Has heavy surface rust on drivers side wheel well. Cancerous rust over the passenger wheel well. 2 rust holes in the corners where the bulkhead meets the floor, and a 1ft x 1ft square clean cut in floor for a gooseneck set up. Interior: Rear seat is in farily good condition and could be used as the front seat. Front seat is non stock. Headliner trim is in place, headliner panels are gone. Dash pad is toast. Door glass is good. Windshield may have cracks. Operational: Truck starts and runs fine. Stops good, steers good. Shifts fine. Power steering pump appears to be leaking where the HP hose attaches to the pump. Most lights and gauges work. Gas gauge does not work. Rear fuel tank is inoperable. I am not sure if the truck would make it from Oregon to Florida or anywhere in between. It would probably depend on your sense of adventure and possibly your mechanical skills. It is a 35 year old ranch truck and is sold as is. Local inspection is welcomed and encouraged. Ask all questions before bidding. If you can’t pay, please don’t play.
