Up for sale is a 2000 BMW M5 E39. This car features the legendary 400hp S62 engine mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. The engine benefits from 11:1 compression, individual throttle bodies, dual exhaust, and aggressive tuning. This is honestly one of the most amazing cars that I have ever owned. This particular example is completely stock with the exception of the BBS Replica wheels and tinted windows. This car was originally in Boston for the first couple of years of its life but then made the journey down to Florida. It lived there for a majority of its life until I purchased it and brought it up to Chicago last year. It is completely rust free. Not even surface rust on the suspension. I am a European car mechanic by trade so this car had no expense spared on the maintenance. I went through it top to bottom replacing all of the necessary components. The A/C blows cold and I would have no problem driving it cross country. The transmission shifts buttery smooth and the clutch feels like it should. Right now, the only things outstanding with it are that the ABS control module needs to be rebuilt (abs light on), the airbag light comes on intermittently (very common problem that does not hurt anything), front tires have a little bit of cupping so they make some noise, and a couple of the climate control buttons are cracked (still working). Other than those few things, the car drives like a dream. The tires do have a lot of tread left, and the brakes are in good shape. The body is dent free and the paint is in good shape with only a small area of fading above the door due to the Florida sun (see picture). The interior is in good shape with the exception of the drivers seat, which has a few tears, and a couple of nicks on the leather near the dash. The back seat looks like no one ever sat in it. This car features the very rare caramel interior along with the full leather package. This was only applied to a few of the E39 M5s. It has the entire dash, all the door panels, and seats completely covered in leather. It also features the standard M5 suede headliner. Overall, this car needs absolutely nothing at this time.
