Vehicle Detail
800x600 It’s time to move on to my next project so I am selling my 1973 Porsche 914. It has been a great car since I have owned it for the past 8 years. The “Reserve Price” is set at a reasonable level and there is no “Buy it Now”. Please look at the pictures and description below and if you have any questions, feel free to email me. If you would like pictures of any part of the car, let me know. The car is located in the Phoenix area and if you are interested, a test drive or inspection can be arranged. The car is currently registered and has a clear title. Data Plate overview: Paint color: L30E Bahia Rot – Bahama Red. VIN: 4732923765. VIN numbers for the 1973 914/4: 4732900001 – 4732927660 Engine : GA code engine block. Mechanical: - The engine was completely rebuilt by Frank&Kit’s in San Bernadino, CA by the previous owner. - A new Weber single carb was recently installed and tuned. Since this car is on a collector car insurance, I have not done emissions test since 2008. I always passed no problem. - Distributor has been converted to Pertronix electronic ignition. No points to adjust anymore. - An oil cooler/fan has been added to the rear of the engine bay to keep the car running cool in the desert heat. - Engine oil and filter just changed (04/14) using Amsoil synthetic with high ZDDP to protect the lifters. - Also adjusted the valves at that time. - Transmission has had the synchro rings replaced in 2008 and all the shift bushings were just replaced 10/14. - The engine and transmission run and shift smooth and do not make any abnormal sounds. - All the suspension and brakes were completely rebuilt using all new parts in 2009. Exterior: - Most of the exterior molding, trim, grille and bezels are still original. - The paint is in great shape. There are no major dents or scratches and it is still very glossy and shows well at the car shows. - There is a small bubble by the drivers’ side door that has not changed since I’ve owned the car and also the back lip of the trunk has a few small bumps in the paint. - It was repainted by previous owner in Jan. 1999 and the hood was repainted in May 2007. - See pictures in listing for more details on the paint quality. Interior: - The interior is pretty much all original and in decent shape (with the addition of the oil/temp gauges and AM/FM CD player). - The seats do have tears in the upholstery and I put some nice seat covers on them that complement the interior well. - Doors, latches locks and window regulators all work smoothly. Trunk: - The trunk is solid as you can see in the pictures of the listing. - The battery was relocated to the trunk and the battery tray removed to prevent any rust issues that these cars are known for. - The trunk has a thick OEM style liner. Other: - The car will come with the following extra items: o Folder with all receipts since I bought the car and a good amount from the previous owner. o Car cover. o Extra engine (1.7 l) with fuel injection system and side shift transmission. o Bins of various spare parts. o Extra cylinder heads, cylinders and pistons. o 4 (four) original Fuchs 2.0 liter rims that are in good shape, but need to be restored to match the quality of the car. I have enclosed a picture of the car with the Fuchs in the listing. History: The car was purchased in Redlands, CA from the second owner in Dec. of 2006. I used it as a daily driver for about 2 years and after that it only has been to regular car shows all over Arizona. Also anything that needed to be rebuilt or serviced was done since 2008 to keep the car in great visual and mechanical shape. Here are some typical questions I have received in the past about the Camaro or when selling other vehicles. I thought I would list them FYI: Q: I live in Baltimore, MD. Can I drive the car home?A: I have taken this Porsche on a few annual trips of ~400 miles round trip without any problems. The car averaged 25 mpg at 65 MPH. Otherwise most of the driving has been around the metro Phoenix area. Q: Why are you selling the car anyway? A: I need room in my garage to pursue other interests after owning the Porsche for 8 years it is time to move on. Q: I live in City of Industry, CA and want a reliable car to drive to work everyday (~ 80 miles/day). Does the car overheat in stop and go traffic? A: The Porsche has a heavy duty oil cooler and fan added. I have driven in heavy traffic and oil temperature runs around 200 F. Are you sure you’re not looking for a Toyota Camry instead? Q: Would you consider trading for a 1994 Nissan Sentra and some cash? A: I am not interested in trades at this time. But thanks for the offer. Q: Would I be able to pay you $100.00 a month until the car is paid off? A: You will have to find financing on your own and pay the full price at auction close. Q: How fast is the Porsche in the 1/4 mile? A: I have not done any type of racing with the Porsche, I just like to take it cruising. Legal stuff: No International bidders/buyers – US only. Transportation/shipping of the vehicle is your responsibility, but I will be able to assist with loading the car or if you want to drive it back home, I can pick you up in the Phoenix area (airport, bus terminal, etc.) Remember this is an official transaction. Please have the money before you bid. If the method of funding does not meet my satisfaction, I can cancel the Sales agreement immediately. Zero feedback bidders, please contact me before bidding or I will withdraw your bids. Bidders with less than 80% positive feedback, please contact me before bidding or I will withdraw your bids.
