I have an original 40 Fire Truck # 2 from the city of Greensburg, IN just as it came out of service. 18K original miles. Has all the Motorola radio equipment still in it. The doors still have the original hand painted decals. All tires still hold air. The motor is a flathead v-8 and turns over by hand, but I have never tried to start it, and the 6 volt battery is also missing, the transmission is a 4 speed on the floor. The windshield glass is fogged and the drivers side window is cracked, but is all there. The aluminum siren light is in very good condition. Pump fittings are still brass. Still has old style fire extinguisher and stiff walled hoses to place in a pond. Has rear lights and original electric Siren! The bed has an aluminum emblem the reads American. The truck was in service until 1979 and then sold to the ex-fire chief, then was given to his son and that is where I acquired, as he had no place to store it anymore. I just don't have the time to restore or fix it up like it needs. I really would like to sell it to someone who will do something with it, such as parades? I was under the knowledge that it still ran and all the pumps still worked in 1997? The rear wooden floor in the bed could stand to be replaced, but the aluminum sheeting underneath looks great. The drivers side hood hinge could use some attention. There is on spot of rust under the gas pedal about the size of a silver dollar, otherwise very solid all around. There are two spare carberators in the back. Clean and clear title in my hand. Buyer is responsible for any and all shipping arrangements, although I will assist in loading.
