Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a rare example of a limited production run by Toyota of the MR2 Spyder. This two seater sports car was only available in the US from 2000-2005. With such a small number built, these cars are rarely seen on the road. This car has lived a very pampered life being kept garaged and covered through out its life. Covering just 13k miles since it rolled off the showroom floor, this mid-engined runabout was only used during nice days and not as a daily driver. This beauty comes with about every option Toyota offered for the 2003 model year. In addition to the standard power windows, remote door locks, AM/FM stereo CD/Cassette player, and A/C; it also has a leather interior, satellite radio, six speed sequential manual transmission with floor mounted and steering wheel button shifters, and cruise control. Only the 6-speed cars came with the factory cruise control and this was a very welcomed upgrade. This car also comes with a rare Toyota Factory Hard Top. These tops really transform the look and feel of this model. This rarely seen option gives you the feeling of three different cars in one: Traditional drop top convertible, topless roadster, and snug hard top coupe. Used as a weekend show & cruise-in car, it always seemed to draw a lot of attention. Most people asked what it was guessing it was a Porsche or Ferrari. They were shocked to find out it was a Toyota that got over 30 mpg. It was always fun to see someone sitting behind you at a traffic light and pointing at you or pulling up next to you and asking you what kind of a car it is. The temptation was to just make up something and see their reaction but honestly it was fun looking at them after you told them it was a Toyota. Some people don't like convertibles because the rear visibility is usually poor when the top is up: The cure for that is to just leave it down: Or get a hard top with its extra large rear glass. The interior of the car is in great condition. The leather is still soft and gives the car a new car smell. Which is amazing after 11 years. The interior layout is very comfortable for such a small car. The driver and passenger do not feel jammed together and all of the controls are within easy reach. With the button shifters on the steering wheel, its easy to be a one handed driver. Since its release in 2000, I have owned 3 of these Spyders. One was a 5-speed maual transmission and two had the 6-speed sequential manual transmission. I've enjoyed both types of transmissions but the 6 speed has been my favorite. The engine, suspension, exhaust, body, and wheels are unmodified Toyota Factory condition. I'm sure the aftermarket guys would love to get their hands on this one but there is something to be said for the Toyota engineers did in designing this one. The mid-engine design makes for a perfectly balanced car The hardtop was not available in the US. Only outside of the US buyers could order this top. You can still get tops but they are not cheap and will run you $2500. If you thought about getting one of these when they were first released but hesitated here's a second chance to get one of these. With only 13k miles, it will be up to you to break it in. I'll shut up and let the car speak for itself: Could be a nice Christmas present for someone...small enough to fit in Santa's sleigh. (kind of cheesy, I know) Now for the not so fine print. Payment via certified bank check or wire transfer. Car and title will not be released until funds have cleared. Car is available for inspection prior to end of auction. Zero feedback bidders must be approved prior to bidding or your bid will be cancelled. Reserve the right to end the auction early. Buyer will have to arrange shipping. Car is located in Simpsonville, SC which is just outside of Greenville, SC. Fly in and drive it home! Good luck!
