Vehicle Detail

This 1976 Oldsmobile Delta Royale Eighty-Eight belonged to the late John R. Keel of Freeland Michigan, USA. He affectionately named each of his 4 cars, this car he named "Delta". This car definitely has some history and a story connected to it. After the young 18 year old John R. Keel passed away suddenly in December of 2002, Car And Driver Magazine wrote a 6 page article about him and his love for cars. You can read about John and his car collection consisting of 4 cars, including Delta in the May 2004 Car And Driver Article entitled "The Boy Who Loved Hearses". This article sparked interest from many movie companies, one was Film 101 Productions, they made a documentary about John also entitled "The Boy Who Loves Hearses". This car, Delta, is a nice looking and running car! It was John's very first car, he spotted it for sale along the road when he was 14, we stopped and looked at it and he feel in love with it, that was all it took! The light blue interior looked just like new! A little old lady was selling it because her son told her it was too old and made her buy a new Dodge Neon ... so we bought it for John and this was his everyday driving car. The interior is original in a beautiful baby blue color it looks like a new car inside. Everything works on it such as the lights, horn, radio, heater, windshield wipers and speedometer. He bought new fancy wide white wall tires from his friend in Indiana, he loved driving this car all over Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, there are not very many miles on the tires thought since he did not have them on the car long before he passed away. John loved driving this car and racked up a quite few speeding tickets - I think he said it's because you feel like you're floating on a cloud when you drive this beauty so you don't realize how fast you're going! The car has 117, 058 starts up and runs good, but will need brake work done before it can be driven on the roads. We replaced some parts such as the carburetor, alternator, rear end differential and tires. It does have some rust around the rear near fenders and above the tires and normal wear and tear for a car from 1976. You can see part of the front end of this car in the Car And Driver May 2004 6 page magazine article about the late John R. Keel, it was parked behind his car Ravenna in the driveway. It's a great car who needs a new owner, someone to drive and take care of it since John's family is no longer able to do so. It is being sold in "As In Condition". No Warranty. The car is located in Freeland, Michigan USA, this is about 2 hours north of Detroit, please keep this in mind when you make shipping arrangements.
