Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a very cool 1970 Cadillac de Ville convertible, triple black car. Black leather. black exterior, black top, 102K miles, 3 owner convertible and is a very special car. This is a California car and hasn't seen the snow or rain or the salt of snowy New England winter roads. Every time I take it out someone stops to tell me how much they love it or they just yell "cool car" as I go by, which is what happened last weekend filling up at the gas station. It's 472/375 horse power V8 turbo 400 trans. I bought it for $7,200 years ago and it's a wicked ride with the top down, but I just don't drive it these days so it's finally going up for sale. Honestly, I didn't want to see it go - so I waited - but, now I have to clear space and it hasn't been driven for quite a while and it's a big car in a tiny garage, so it's finally time to sell it. It has a very nice shiny paint black finish, stripped bare and repainted by the previous owner and I garaged and stored it with a nice cover to keep the paint so good that you can see your own reflection. It starts up and runs, but I'm not driving it anymore and I don't have time to spend on getting it into perfect condition as was my original plan. There are not a lot of cars like this around, so I'm hoping to find an owner who appreciates this classic car and wants to drive it. Things you should know - everything I can think of:Car is currently registered in the state of California and insured and street legalIncludes original owners manual (manual is a sort of beaten up - it is from 1970, after all)Includes power equipment (windows, seats, top, steering, mirrors) - haven't tried all knobs/switches on the doors and dash, pretty much everything does but certainly some odd switches don't (as is typical)The convertible top is clean and in really great shape, replaced a few years back. It's quite new looking. The top motor works fine and uses a switch the previous owner added under the dashLeather in front and back in great shape, considering the age of this beauty (guessing it was replaced by previous owner) - not damaged by sunCarpeting has been replaced and is in really great shape - don't see any stains or ripsThis car has been protected in my garage with a car cover and our nice mild California weather, but (on the down side) has been parked for several yearsA/C does NOT work (it's a convertible in California, hey)Radio appears to be original, still worksNo rust that I can see on the body or in the trunk, but front/back bumper has minor bubbles (see pictures. You might re-chrome, if you care about that stuff)I looked at the underside and under the trunk liner and didn't find body rust (see picture of underside) - perhaps I missed something, but it's certainly rare for a car of this vintageMost serious issue I see is the passenger side front panel has a scrape and paint behind the wheel (see last picture) and that panel has a dent you may want to fix (it didn't bother me)I had an upholstery shop replace the leather in the armrest and replace the drivers seat padding (it compressed over the years, as the owner gained a few pounds - ha)Some of the door/window rubber insulation/seals is old/crumbly - sort of minor, but comes with age (again, see pictures)Includes spare tire in huge trunk that appears to be in great shape, and also a jack and tire ironIncludes fitted car coverTires getting old, you'll want to replace themI have the title to the car (you buy the car, you get the title paperwork)This is an awesome and very cool car to drive, but it needs an owner who has time to spend with it. It's NOT mint and it's not a daily driver anymore, just a fun car that I haven't really driven much so it will need a little bit of TLC before driving around, but honestly probably not much. The body appears to be solid and in great shape as far as I see, except for the scrape and dent around the front panel on the passenger's side (see last picture, there's some white paint at that spot) but this is something you could get any body shop to straighten the panel then retouch the paint because they won't need parts and it's a single panel. I did replace the battery last weekend and it started right up and I drove around town. What a blast to take the beast out again! It started right up again when I finished my errands and then I got gas and headed home. Because of that, you're also getting a brand new battery and a full tank of gas with this car. The fine print: Winning bid pays $500 deposit with 48 hours after auction closes. Pay remainder within 7 days (cash or wire transfer) and pick up car by then. Thank you for looking at this listing. A few final important notes: PLEASE BID ONLY IF YOU ARE SERIOUS. As you can tell I've tried to describe every detail I know in a careful fashion, but please don't bid if you're not ready to buy. Don't ask about the reserve, just bid a fair price. In the spirit of honesty, I'm disclosing that I bought this originally for $7,200 years ago and I still have the original bill of sale available. If you have other questions, ask away and I'll try my best to answer. Thank you for looking at this listing and I appreciate your bidding. I'm sure this classic will make one person very happy!
