Vehicle Detail

For those who may recognize it, this is a resale because "nin-roma" did not pay! Block this fellow! In Hemet California there once lived a senior citizen who passed away intestate (no will) and the County of Riverside in keeping with state law gathered up all of the persons possessions and sold them. This red 1990 Mustang convertible is from that estate and is now offered up for your bidding consideration. This cars odometer reads 44,539 and runs and drives but the Auto check says that it is actually plus a hundred thousand! I guess that means the odometer has been around once! But the engine idles and runs smooth. This is a rust free car and has a solid floor and sheet metal, there is no rust (see photos, especially the underneath shots). Except for the deck lid the sheet metal is pretty straight. The trunk lock was pried open by the Sheriff to get into the trunk (no key) and it is still basically straight but sprung on the right side. Or maybe it's the hinge? I am certain it can be straightened and saved. See the photos. This car was driven by a senior citizen in California and has many little nicks and parking lot dings, and bumper scratches and tears. There is evidence of some basic maintenance and exhibits replacement shocks, for instance. See photos. The engine sounds and runs fine and the transmission shifted and seemed OK during a short drive on a surface street. It needs tires badly, no two match and they are shot so I did not take it over 30 mph. But wait! There are some other issues. The mirror was knocked off of the windshield, for instance, and there is a major chip fracture in the center. It needs a windshield. And the mirror re-attached. The right tail light lens is broken. There is a tear in the convertible top; see the photos. The front seats are split at the seams (it's hot in Hemet in the summer and the thread gave up!) see photos. The radio is missing. It appears to have been a slide in cassette unit, and someone slid it out! While I was photographing it the airbag light came on. Seriously, when I moved it to the lift to photograph underneath it was fine. When I started it to back it off the lift, the light came on. The bag did not deploy! But the light is on. To recap for anyone considering driving it home; this car needs a windshield and a rear view mirror, a right rear tail light lens, and four tires, first. And later? A new top, stitch the seats, replace the trunk lock, reset the airbag light, a radio, and lots of TLC. Anyone wishing to fly in and drive it home I will assist you with tire and windshield shop referral and allow you to work on the tail light etc. in the storage lot. The positive? It has a good battery and starts and drives. The top operates well, the body is rust free and 98% straight. It has a 4 cylinder engine and should get pretty good mileage! Title. The coroners' office paperwork in lieu of title was a mess and is not usable by many states anyway so I partnered with a dealer - friend who cleaned it up and it is now in the dealership name. Consequently all purchasers other than a licensed dealer, regardless of state of residency, will be required to pay California's 9% sales tax and because the car needs repairs and is being sold 100% as-is will receive the clean California title under the "buyer demands title" rule. Sales tax is not negotiable; California's rule, not mine. California buyers need to know that once repaired registration as of November 2014 is $90. PLEASE KNOW THAT THIS SALE IS 100% AS - IS WITHOUT WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE OTHER THAN CLEAR TITLE AND DELIVERY. THIS IS A PROJECT CAR FOR THE HOBBYIST OR PRO BUILDER AND IS NOT RETAIL READY. Inspection is recommended and the car is available by appointment at a storage lot in Spring Valley California. Local buyer pick it immediately please. Out of state or distance buyers; I will hold it for up to thirty days free while you are securing transportation; $20 a day after that. There is no reserve other than the first bid. Or use "buy it now" to avoid a bidding war and potentially losing this classic Fox Body convertible. A future classic!
