Vehicle Detail
We've been privileged to own this car for 5 years after originally purchasing the car from Dr. Bernie Martinez, a well-known Alfa race car driver/owner and enthusiast from Ohio. We are reluctantly posting this car for sale - it has served us well. We are selling this car so that I can fulfill another dream of building my own race car. This car has been consistently raced since the late 1980s. It was originally from Florida with a clear Florida title. This race car has two SVRA log books and a current CASC one. So far, this Alfa has been entered in over 50 race event weekends in its long racing career. In its resume, this race car has been at many Canadian and American tracks, including: Mosport (ON, Canada), Mid-Ohio (OH), Watkins Glen (NY), Road Atlanta (GA), Mont Tremblant (QC, Canada), Calabogie (ON, Canada), Grattan (MI), Waterford (MI) and several others. Some of the recent highlights of this race car would be a posting a 1:41 minute lap time at Mosport (Canadian Tire Motorsports Park) and receiving car/driver of the weekend at the 2014 Waterford, MI vintage event. Also, running in SVRA group 8 races, and the B.A.D (BMW, Alfa, Datsun) feature race in 2013. The car has been given the name “the old War horse” with its authentic patina and aggressive look that hasn’t changed in over 24 years. Body:This race looks like a race car should – it always attracts a lot of attention, although it’s been driven well to avoid body damage. The body is in overall good shape considering that the car has been a race car for 24 years. It doesn’t appear to have been in any accidents. Body work and race car conversion was likely done in the late 1980s.It appears that the lower floor pans have been patched at some point when the car was converted to a race car. Other portions of the floor were cut away to make way for new chassis rail stiffening. Both outer rocker panels are not original - these look to be sheeting over the original one. From my understanding, this was likely a common thing back then when it was converted to a race car when original rockers were not available. Otherwise, for a race car, this car is in great shape.
