Vehicle Detail

Up for bids is this 1969 Ford Fairlane (Torino) 500. I purchased this car from the original owner who purchased the car new in Illinois on March 21st, 1969. The car has 62,476 miles on it. In the late 70’s, the owner decided it was time for a mild restoration. The car was running and driving with no mechanical issues when it was put in storage. It has not been out of storage until now. As muscle cars go, the Fairlane was a mid-sized force to be reckoned with. This car even looks sinister in its dark green color (and some flat black primer), low, sleek lines, and fastback styling. This car is an excellent candidate for a full blown concours restoration, or an easy father and son project that won’t take years, or require a 2nd mortgage. This car is a number matching car with good title. The car is 99% original and complete including all drive components (351 M-code 4bbl motor, automatic transmission, 9” rear, Air Conditioning, and power brakes) The motor is stuck from sitting. I have oiled it up and primed it, but I have not attempted to get it going. All factory tags appear to be in place except for the door warranty tag. The original distributor is missing. The body on this car is in very good condition with all original panels. The hood, roof, and trunk lid are solid and straight. The front fenders have had a little previous body work towards the bottom (appear to be a light layer of fiberglass), but are definitely usable (please see the pictures). The doors are solid on the bottom, but have also had light repair to the outer, lower edge. The rear quarters have had more of the same around the wheel lips and lower rear panels. Again, all of these repairs are light in nature and all of the panels are easily restorable. In fact, this car would be a very easy restoration project. The previous owner started to sand the car to prepare for a new paint job. The car was also lightly taken apart (mostly trim). I have bolted some back on for illustration. The hood, trunk, roof, and top of the fenders have been primed with a flat black primer. No bondo underneath. All of the glass is original and good. 99% of the trim is included and usable. I have examined the entire bottom of this car and could not find any rust through…just some light, typical flaking as shown in the pictures. The 9” rear is a 3.00 ratio. In summary, here’s what we have: · Black Jade (Dark green metallic exterior paint) · Dark Green interior · 351 M code (351W, 4bbl carb) · Automatic transmission · Power steering · Power Brakes · Air Conditioning · Low, original miles (62,476) · Nice interior, good glass · One Owner · Fantastic condition (mostly rust free and complete) · Matching numbers · Good Title I am listing this car in a manner that I believe to be helpful to you as a bidder: · NO RESERVE- will sell to the highest bidder. · This is a real auction, will go to the hammer.
