Vehicle Detail

allchargedupstore Store This 1977 MGB V-8 Conversion has won first place in the late-model MGB class two years at the Euro Car Festival at BMW's Greer plant. The MGB four cylinder engine was replace with a 3.5-liter Rover V-8. The V-8 aluminum block engine actually weighs 45 lbs. less than the original cast iron MGB engine. The inspiration: An English automotive engineer named Ken Costello who did the same thing with a stock MG in the late 1960's. Costello's conversion prompted British Leyland to come out with a stock MGB/GT in 1973, but it only produced 2,600 of them before discontinuing the model in 1976. This MGB not only looks great, it drives with the speed under the hood that will surprise almost any Hot Rod enthusiast. The car is British racing green with a tan interior. The complete restoration and conversion where done 10 years ago, but the car still looks and drives great. The top is in great condition as are the tires. The engine has had regular maintenance by an authorized Range Rover repair shop. The paint and chrome are in good shape with some small door dents and some light pitting in portion of the chrome. There is a small crack in the front of the hood which does not impact anything and is hardly noticeable. This is a 5 Speed manual transmission. The 5 speed transmission is from a TR-8, this was the standard transmission used when converting to the V-8. Since the V-8 is not just more powerful, but also has a much higher top speed. I have owned this car for many years and have enjoyed every moment. Like most car guys, it is time for something new and my new 61 corvette is taking it's place in the garage. This car is never left outside and a car cover is used when in the garage. From the outside you will never know the power, unless you take a look at the V-8 emblem on the back of the trunk. The thrust you will feel when you pull away shifting from first gear to second at 25 - 35 miles per hour gives you a thrill on each outing. You will love this car and it will turn more heads than just about any other car on the road, especially when you leave those heads in the DUST!
