Vehicle Detail
1987 Pontiac Fiero GT Lots of modifications. I bought this car off eBay from someone in Philadelphia about 6 years ago, in perfect running condition. They were going to drive it to me from Philly if I covered gas and a bus ticket back to Philly. The Fiero ended up at my office a week later than the planned on time, at 9:30pm, on a trailer. I had the non-running Fiero towed to a repair shop, and proceeded to spend about $6,000 on making it "perfectly running" again. It turned out that someone had messed with the wiring harness (i.e. randomly cutting and splicing wires) and had not only screwed up the harness, but frying the computer as well. Most of the $6000 was spent rebuilding the wiring harness and replacing the computer. The rest was spent figuring out what had been done to the car, post factory. As far as I can tell, there were two prior owners that attempted to modify the Fiero. One, that appears to have done the Lambo door conversion, lowering, ignition mods, and most interior mods - that did everything right. Then someone else got a hold of the car and put the ghetto touches on it - the fake diamond plate on the dash, door sills, remote start, stereo, and apparently, some wiring mods. I haven't driven the Fiero much more than 100 miles in the time I have owned it. I quickly found out that Lambo doors are a pain in the ass for a daily driver. In addition, a Fiero is useless when you have two children - the state frowns on passengers in the trunk. Especially if they're children. Another problem I encountered was that the roads are so crappy in this area I bottomed out almost every bump, and didn't even bother trying to get into a driveway from the street. I took the Fiero out of storage in my warehouse in the middle of the summer, to make room for more storage. It has been sitting there for about 4 years. Surprisingly enough, it fired right up and drove with no problems. I was so impressed, I took it for a rip around a couple blocks with no plates or inspection on it. It ran better than I expected, and shifted flawlessly. A shift kit (maybe a whole tranny rebuild) has been installed, and the shifts are solid and quick. The idle is up and down until it gets warm, then evens out - not really surprising since the gas is at least 4 years old. It has a MSD 6AL and a Hypertech chip that was brought over from the dead computer, as well as a cold air intake and some engine detailing. The stereo will need some re-working, but it has a MA Audio 8" sub in the custom built console, a Pioneer CD deck with a 12-CD changer in the trunk, a Volfenhag 1000W amp, and a 1 farad cap. The interior is basically stock, except for the fake diamond plate, custom sub console, and reverse-glow gauges. I don't know how much the Fiero was dropped, but I believe that the owner that did things right was in charge of that. It came with Bonneville 16" rims and tires, but I liked the Motegi rims better and put them on. Somehow the 15" rims/tires were taller than then 16", and would hit the bottom strong-arm for the doors when I hit a bump, so I took the bottom arms off. That made the doors unable to stay up by themselves (that's why there's a broom in the picture). The paint is faded in some spots, and there was some type of repair done over the driver's side rear wheel, but other than that the body is in good shape. Somewhere along the line somebody hit the taillight and broke a piece of the outer taillight, the inner light that is the lens is OK. The only other body issues are that I lost the driver's side quarter window the first time I took the Fiero on the highway, and I have the battery grille cover somewhere, but can't guarantee I can find it. It also has "angel eyes" headlights (implants that replaced the factory sealed-halogen headlights) that give off a blue light. The title is clear and has no liens. I can't think of anything else to tell about the Fiero - what you see is what you get. There are no warranties with this Fiero, and it is being sold AS-IS. While I know of nothing that would prevent you from driving this Fiero home, I'd recommend trailering it. Deposit is due upon auction close. It's non-refundable. Don't bid if you can't buy it. Full payment due within 7 days of auction close, pick up the Fiero within 30 days.
