Vehicle Detail

1992 Buick Roadmaster Station Wagon in good usable condition. This car would drive across the country and back several times without a problem. It is very reliable and gets surprisingly good fuel mileage. On a recent trip to Salt Lake City and back it returned 25 MPG cruising at 70-80mph for most of the journey which I think is very good for a full size car with a V8. The mechanical condition of this car is excellent. The engine starts and runs faultlessly. It idles perfectly smooth, has excellent oil pressure and runs at the correct temperature. It uses no coolant or oil. It had 4 new tires not too long ago, an oil change and a new water pump. The transmission shifts very smoothly through all gears. The engine is revving very low at highway speeds which probably contributes greatly to the impressively good fuel mileage. It has the bulletproof Chevrolet 5.7 (350) V8 engine and 4 speed overdrive transmission. The brakes are strong, the suspension is very smooth and gives excellent ride quality. It's like riding in a classic Cadillac. The alignment was done when the new tires were fitted so it drives perfectly straight. There are no nasty noises from the rear axle, the wheel bearings or suspension. This car is really in very good mechanical shape and has been exceptionally well maintained. It should provide many more years and miles of reliable low maintenance ownership. The bodywork has seen better days. It has no rust, the body and frame are exceptionally solid. There are quite a few dents and scrapes though as can be seen in the photo's because the elderly previous owner was losing his eyesight hence why he eventually gave up driving and sold the car to me. The vinyl wood trim around the car is in pretty good shape. It is a rare sight these days to see a full size American station wagon and it is a very impressive sight. It certainly attracts a lot of positive attention. Overall a good solid and impressive looking full size American car. The interior is in pretty good shape and is a very comfortable spacious place to travel. There are a few negative points to mention. There is a rip on the drivers seat base. There are some rips to the front door panels. The horn and cruise control do not work. And the tailgate and hood hydraulic struts are weak and no longer support. But that's about all I can think of. The electric windows all operate just fine. The power locks work great as they should. The power seats work perfectly. The dash lights up at night as it should and all of the interior lights work. The radio works very well with good sound quality. The heater is very good. It has a carpet covered fitted dash pad cover so the dash pad is in excellent condition. It has seating for 8 people and a huge trunk which can be made even bigger if you fold down the rear seats. We recently put a mattress in there and used it to sleep in when we went camping at Yellowstone. It was far more comfortable and warmer than a tent. It's a very comfortable car to travel in, a world apart from today's small uncomfortable cars. Overall a good clean interior for the age of car. This is a very practical car. It is a good cheap alternative to a pick up truck and is rated to tow 5000lbs. It has the same strong small block 350 engine as a Chevy/GMC truck. It has a full frame unlike any modern cars so is a real tough and rugged machine built to last. It is certainly a lot more comfortable and gets much better fuel mileage than a pick up truck. I recommend this car very highly, it is so reliable and cheap to run and makes you feel very good with its tremendous road presence. It takes you back to a better time.
