Vehicle Detail
Hello fellow eBayer's you are looking at my 1980 911 European 3.0 SC coupe. On Oct-06-14 at 19:19:10 PDT, seller added the following information: PLEASE read this before asking me questions. Often the answer is in my write up. I purchased this car early spring and dropped off at a body shop to repaint entire car. The gentleman I purchased it from owned it for many years and drove the car sparingly until 2012 when he decided the cosmetics needed attention. After the car sat for a year his wife said it must go. That was when I purchased it and sent it to my local body shop. After over 6 months of waiting I pulled the car out of the shop out of frustration. I put all the trim that was removed back on in order to have the car in one piece. The sunroof panel was lost so I had to replace that with a good used one. I just purchased a 1985 308GTB and I have lost my "steam" to continue on with this car. This is a low mileage Euro model 911. If you have owned or driven many of these cars you may feel as I do. The 78-83 non turbo European cars are the absolute best 911 cars made. The 65-73 cars require too much fiddling, rust issues, to darn expensive to drive regularly. The 74-77 cars are just well issues all over. The 84-98 cars are just to refined especially the 993 cars. The turbo cars( unless you get to do a lot of highway driving in a sparsely populated area) are just plain obnoxious to drive in any stop and go driving. However these 3.0 naturally aspirated cars are still sports cars yet still so practical to be used. I drove an 83 to college and took it over 217k trouble free miles doing just brakes and oil changes.I will break the car down into sub-categories to describe the car as accurately as possible. The Body and Paint- as you can see the car needs a paint job. It is an original Grand Prix white car. There is some minor rust around some trim and areas that had paint chips. As you know these cars are galvanized so there is nothing major going on. This has the "Carrera" package which has the front black lip spoiler/stone guards and tail. I am not sure if the turbo look tail is correct but it is a factory wing and has the rare rear wiper fitted. The "Chassis"/Floor pans- this is by far the most solid 911 I have seen from the front pan all the way back this tub is solid and original. See photos. The Interior- the black leather/cloth combination on this car looks super cool and very "euro"! On the drivers lower cushion, one of the stitches pulled apart so this will need to be sewn but as you can see in the photos it is incredibly well preserved. The black dashboard has no warping or cracks. The car is also fitted with the leather wrapped sport steering wheel, another cool option. The Lights and Electricals- all lights, horn, switches, gauges are working as they should. The sunroof panel was removed at the body shop so I just put it in without connecting cables but if you hit the switch the electric motor works. The European H4 lights are present along with color matched trim rings. The Wheels and Tires- The car has the uber rare optional 7" front and 8" rear color keyed Fuchs with painted crests. These expensive optioned wheels are the same fitted on the 73RS and 75-77 930 cars. The Dunlop tires are dry rotted and need replacement. The Engine- as you can see the motor is absolutely bone dry. Not a drip from anywhere! It's amazing. The car fires up immediately and sounds great. I have driven it around my neighborhood only but it pulls great as you would expect with a low mileage European 3.0. The Transmission- This is also quite amazing no leaks and it shifts through the gears without grinding. 915 type transmissions are known for grinding second gear from over enthusiastic owners abusing them but this car was treated with care. The Glass- The car has all the original Sigla glass with no cracks or chips. In Conclusion I am selling a nice 911 that needs a paint job and some minor freshening up to make a great reliable classic Porsche with many many more years of enjoyment left. Please DO NOT ask me my buy it now. If you want to make me an offer that's great I will consider it but my intention is to let the auction run it's course.Good Luck!
