This is a 1964 Studebaker Avanti with round headlights, not square like most 1964 Avantis. I bought this car on eBay ten years ago. I had the car hand stripped, the fiberglass refurbished, and the car painted special ordered Avanti Red factory color. Unfortunately, the factory paint formula is easily damaged by modern gasoline. The paint on this car is damaged due to gasoline spilling on the rear quarter. Yes, the car runs. However, it has cooling issues. The cooling system can be simply fixed by removing the freeze plugs and cleaning the coolant channels. A shade tree mechanic could easily do this job or it can be done by any competent garage mechanic. The headliner will need replacement. These are readily available and cost about $190. The ignition switch is finicky. It doesn't bother me, but I am including an $85 NOS ignition/key/switch with this car. This particular car has the non-supercharged "R1" engine. It does have the factory air conditioner which was not available with the super charged R2. One common question is "does it have rust?" The answer is no, not even on the "hog troughs". This car is neither the best, nor the worst. This is certainly no basket case! It is in good condition. The bones are all there, minor work and cosmetics are all that it might need. This car is a real head turner! I constantly get "thumbs up" and such when driving it. I am selling it because I was laid-off and have tuition bills. I also simply do not have the time to enjoy it. Avantis are rare. I am often told by people that see this car that they "always wanted an Avanti." Don't let this opportunity pass you by. This is YOUR chance to own an Avanti at a fair price. One person asked if the air conditioner works. Yes, it works mechanically but needs the freon coolant recharged.
