Vehicle Detail
This is not a project CJ-7 jeep. She is in great shape, and ready to drive today. Registered and smog compliant in California. New Paint, New Suspension all the way around leafs, shocks, brake lines. New pads etc. New tub liner. removable full hard steel doors included. The Jeep CJ-7 featured a wheelbase 10 inches longer than that of the CJ-5 and lacked its trademark rear curve of the door cutouts. The other main difference to the CJ-5 was to the chassis which hitherto consisted of two parallel longitudinal main c-section rails. To help improve vehicle handling and stability, the rear section of the chassis stepped out to allow the road springs and dampers to be mounted closer to the outside of the body. It was introduced in 1976, and 379,299 were built during 11 years of production. The CJ-7 featured an optional new automatic all-wheel drive system called Quadra-Trac, as well as a part-time two-speed transfer case; Other features include full steel doors. The CJ-7 was also available in Renegade and an upgraded Laredo model.(this is the Laredo) Noticeable by their different body decals, the Laredo model featured highback leather bucket seats, a tilting steering wheel and an elaborate chrome package that included the bumpers, front grille, and mirrors. An optional Trak-Lok differential was available for the rear. Rear axle ratio typically 3.54, but later went up to 2.73.MC is a 258 cubic-inch straight six -cylinder that is California Smog compliant and has been well maintained and reparied as needed over the years. I bought this from a Navy officer had said he and his brother had owned for the last 20 years. Jeep has been garaged. It has been taken off road, but with great car he says and is evident by the condition of the body lines, smooth shifting, and steady idle of the engine. I was gone for a month this summer, and it started up right away on first try. From 1976 to 1980, the CJ-7 used a Dana 20 transfer case, Dana 30 front axle (27- or 31-spline), and an 29-spline AMC 20 rear axle, while in recent years, Laredo package added tachometer, chrome bumpers, tow/recovery hooks and interior, comfortable leather seats, and clock. In 1980, the Laredo was first fitted with an AMC 20 rear axle until mid-1986. The last CJs, the CJ-7and CJ-8, were replaced in 1986 by the Jeep Wrangler he CJ-7 continues to be used in the sport of mud racing, with either the stock body or a fiberglass replica. It i also a favorite for rock crawling. I perfer using for cruising the coastal area! Updates:In July 2014 I put a complete new 4" Rough Country Nitro Suspension System on her. New Stainless steel Brake lines, 17 inch Premium alloy wheels with Nitto all terrian 33 x 12.50 tires with 90% + tread left. I herculined full interior tub in August 2014, and it has new BestStop seat covers on original CJ seats (Back seat is excellent shape and front seats have some tears i original seat). New Best Top Tire Cover on 31 x 0/50 Spare. I have high Lift Jack Mount for hood, which I am not using, and I have original full steel hard doors, with windows and original inserts in great shape. I also have the original front bumper (painted to match new paint job) and tow bar hitch mounts. She leaks a litle (A dime size spot on rear front case after driving ) but barely noticeable. I feel completely safe on freeway, and personally bought for a beach Cruiser, and haven't taken it off road, but am sure she would do fine. I am seling because my wife is over me spending more time with "the other woman" and we need to get more of a daily driver SUV for her work as a Realtor. ;) She runs great and starts up with no problem. If you want to have it checked out before you buy I am fine with that, but buyer will pay for all inspections. Tags are California and registered through March 2015. One cool looking, classic vehicle here. All of the kobs inside work, no AC ,but heater blows Hot. She has a kill switch and is wired for Pioneer sound system. Has Stereo in console box (original left in dash for the classic look and to deter thieves). Full Pioneer audio system will be included in sale as well as bikini top, rear air dam, rear deck cover, Grant Classic Steering wheel chrome horn button and all original leaf springs if wanted.
