Vehicle Detail
OK if you are looking at this listing then you know what this is. Honda CT70 H model 4-speed. This is an all original 1275 mile bike that has spent the last 30 years in various basements of the original owner. The bike ran 3 or 4 summers and then suffered a bent rod; moved from house to house until I bought it a few years back. I secured a clear MN title/registration/and plate for it and it has sat in MY basement until now. I took it to a local Honda engine builder who freshened up the top end. New valves, recut and polished the valve seats and benchtested. . I cleaned and adjusted the original carb. The engine runs pretty much like new. Starts first kick, idles and runs out nice. Clutch and gears work like you expect. Hauls my fat but up the hill without issue. I have tried to keep the bike as original as possible. I have not replaced anything except the airbox which I will talk about in a min. The original airbox comes with it. So basically all I have done is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN and get the engine back in running condition. Other than that its like it was in 1973 or 74 when it was stored. This bike is a blast to ride. Has the right sound and "feel" and I would think that with a little care it should be around for another 30 years. I will let the pictures and the videos tell the story of look and function but I do want to call out a couple things that I also call out in the video. Kickshaft has a rollpin inserted. Its of a smaller size and the placement is well down the shaft and the kicker is TIGHT. You only need to kick this guy once to get going and I don't see any reason this shouldn't last the rest of the life of the bike but its there. There is a small crack on the flywheel cover which obviously has no affect on function but again, its there. . The brake lights don't work because the two switches are 35 years old. Again, rather than rehab or replace the switches I will leave that to the new owner. Headlight and taillight work great. Horn works but not too loud. General nicks and scratches on a bike that has been ridden. Seat has a couple small tears on the side and the start of the usual crack toward the back of the seatpan, but its just started - not cracked all the way across or anything. In general the seat looks GREAT. Right handlebar has a small tweak . . . again nothing major but I am trying to make sure that there are no surprises. OH . . . the rubber intake snorkel on the original airfilter box was pinched and so rather than replace it I put a whole new airbox on the bike and I will include the original. I will also include the original YUSA Green battery that was still in the bike (just for show) as well as a NEW YUSA battery which will be shipped dry . . . you will need to buy and add some battery acid. Remember its a 35 year old bike and its remarkable for how WELL it LOOKS and RUNS. You can jump on this bike and ride and ride. OR It would obviously be a perfect candidate for a full-on restore if you are into that sort of thing. Personally I think you should buy it and ride the hell out of it but that's just me. I have included as many pictures as they would allow and I have uploaded TWO VIDEOS to YOUTUBE that show the bike running etc. If you have additional questions send them along and I will try and answer them as best I can include a photo if that helps. Here are the YouTube video URLs You may need to copy and paste them into your browser to view. http://youtu.be/jgNzAmXvCfI http://youtu.be/YBgX9zhyje4 The bike has a reasonable starting bid and reserve. NOT. It had a bent VALVE which is why the top-end refresh. Sorry for any confusion. G.On Oct-05-14 at 06:20:50 PDT, seller added the following information: A kind individual pointed out that my math skills are not too good . . . the bike is a little over 43 years old . . . vin reads 08/70
