Vehicle Detail
Sharp 1980 Chevy Malibu street/casual strip car. Car is in good running condition and is: - painted in a metallic quasar blue paint - 15" Cragar Weld Wheels 5-Spoke, 255/70R15 on the rear, and 205/70R15 on the front. - Factory chrome is in good shape - Includes all factory wheel molding (stainless steel I think) - Crate 350 Roller rocker motor was installed by previous owner (Details below) - 350 Turbo Trans (rebuilt by previous owner and has a shift kit) - Fully operating mechanical gauges: temp, volt, oil pressure - CD player and 4 speakers (6x9's in the rear, 6" in the doors) - HURST quarter stick ratchet shifter on floor - Matching Cragar Weld wheel 5-Spoke w/tire for spare with the factory bumper jack and lug wrench - Dual Exhaust, Flowmaster mufflers, new-ish converters - Fiberglass Cowl Hood (2") - 10 Bolt Posi rear end (unknown gears but feels like in the 3:08-3:23 range) - Nicely done tweed interior - MSD HEI exciter kit -Grant GT Steering Wheel I bought the car as you see it about 5 years ago and have only converted the exhaust from exiting in front of the rear tires to over the axle and exit out the back. The previous owner had intentions of turning it into a drag car but as it was in such nice condition he left it a street/casual strip car. As such some work was started. He removed the HVAC unit and the hole in the firewall was covered and some other items that I'll detail below. Engine details: Previous owners installed a fresh 350 roller rocker crate motor. I have done research on the engine and the Chevy dealer cannot specify if it is a 2 or 4 bolt main, but it is potentially a version of the ZZ4 with steel heads. Has an MSI ignition/distributor with the exciter kit, headers, Edelbrock carburetor, Edelbrock intake, chrome valve cover and air cleaner. Engine holds good oil pressure and revs easily to 6K and pulls nice and strong. Previous owner put about 2000 miles before selling to me and I drove it sparingly in the summers only for approximately another 2000 miles and has been otherwise garage kept. Block number is 10243880 Info I've found states: 350...95-00...2 or 4 bolt main...Vortec truck, Gen.I crate motors and "ZZ4", roller cam, one piece. The heads are stamped 14096217 and the info states: 55-86...350..Crate motor, 285hp/300hp, 64cc chambers,72' or 90' center intake manifold bolt angles. The interior has been freshened up and upholstered in a tweed and vinyl and is in great condition. There are some dark spots on top of the dash pad and a small hole in the speaker hole area. This is one sharp car and cleans up nicely and runs and drives great. It is a real head turner! Additional information about the car to consider that I'd like to point out the info below: - There is no detent cable/kickdown rod on trans since it was intended for the strip - No heater, air conditioner (all ductwork, heater core, fan box, etc was removed) - Has hood pins installed but still retains the factory latching mechanism - Carb needs rebuilt or replaced as it takes quite a bit of pumping when cold to start - Headers need replaced as the starter gets heat soaked (I have a heat wrap on the starter) - Typical scratches from kids bikes along the side and a few spots on the trunk lid - 3-4 hail dents on the roof and trunk lid Previous owner also replaced many parts before selling it to me including: fuel tank, steering center link, inner and outer tie rod ends on both sides, sway bar links, gear box, high pressure steering line, return p/s line, master cylinder, brake booster, fuel pump, water pump, distributor, stereo. Mileage shows 128,847 miles but there is only about 4,000 miles on the new drivetrain.
