Vehicle Detail
Decades ago, before Porsche specialized in re-badging Volkswagen SUVs and tripling the price tag, they built only the World's finest two door sports cars. This exceptionally well-kept 1985.5 944 is a shining example. This car is a late 1985, meaning it has updated engine, electronics, "phone dial" wheels ,dashboard, and door panels. Its Guards Red with black interior. Adult owned and meticulously maintained all its life in sunny, dry Southern California and Southern Colorado. For what I'm asking, you simply will not find a finer example of a classic, drivable Porsche. If you're reading this, you're probably already aware that the 944, with its wide stance and perfect weight distribution is still to this day one of the best handling production cars of all time. This car has 120,351 miles and only three known adult owners, a retired US military pilot, an aeronautical engineer and a Swiss Locomotive mechanic. I've personally owned the car for seven years, only putting a few thousand miles on the clock. I even made my 100 mile commute in it quite a few times this summer without so much as a hiccup- a surprisingly reliable car for its age. The only physical blemish on the car is a small dent near the front emblem (see photos), but otherwise, the body, paint and interior are in excellent condition. The front seats were even recently reupholstered. The tires only have about 2000 miles on them. Options include a power sunroof that can also be removed totally, a nice late model Blaupunkt stereo system with hidden amplifier and center console mounted iPod hookup. Factory alarm (I don't have the special key). Perhaps the nicest option, however are the rare "Sport" factory front seats. These are not the standard 944 seats, but the kind of seats Porsche used in flagship models like the Carrera and 959 in the 80s. They are about the most comfortable and supporting car seats of all time. As with any 30 year old Porsche, there are a few minor issues, mostly electronic and mostly intermittent. The speedometer sometimes takes a few minutes to "wake up" when its cold, the "brake pad" lamp usually stays on (the pads are all over 50% remaining) and sometimes things like power windows are fidgety- a wiggle on the relays under the hood will take care of it. Also, even though the battery is only a couple years old, you'll probably want to get it charged. It still starts the car, but its weak, since I hardly drive the car and the stereo amp causes a drain when the car sits. If you're planning to let the car sit for more than a few weeks, the negative battery terminal should be disconnected during storage. The car also comes with plenty of extras: the original owner's and warranty manuals still in the dealer's case, a Haynes manual, a factory repair manual on CD rom (if I can find it), a custom-fit car cover, the original pop-up headlights and hardware (I think all the parts are there, but the covers will need fresh paint), a box of miscellaneous 944 trim and interior parts I got along with the car. An oil change, brake flush and gear oil change (only use the best- Swepco 201) were all done just this summer. The car also has a new timing belt, oil cooler seals, ignition and fuel system tune up- done between 7-9 years ago, but only within about 4,000 miles. And no, I don't have the receipts. That's about all I can tell you about the car. I would really recommend coming to Pueblo, CO to inspect the vehicle PRIOR to bidding, as there are no warranties or promises involved once the sale is complete. I really hope this car goes to someone who is responsible and knows what it takes to own and care for a 30 year old Porsche. If you're not experienced in classic car ownership, I would suggest looking elsewhere. Payment of at least 10% of total final price is due within 72 hours of auction end. Complete payment must be made within 7 days. The vehicle/title will NOT be delivered or signed until 100% of payment is made and all monies have been 100% cleared through my bank- cash payment is encouraged to expedite this process. THE HIGH BID IS FINAL AND CONSTITUTES A LEGALLY BINDING SALE OF THIS VEHICLE IN ITS PRESENT CONDITION IF YOU NEED TO, PLEASE INSPECT THIS VEHICLE PRIOR TO BIDDING THIS VEHICLE WAS DESCRIBED AS ACCURATELY AS POSSIBLE BUT COMES WITH NO WARRANTY WRITTEN OR IMPLIED FROM SELLER ALL SALES ARE FINAL DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU ALREADY HAVE THE FUNDS TO PAY IN FULL IMPORTANT: Please do not bid on this car unless you already have the means to pay for it and take care of it.
