Vehicle Detail
Job relocation is forcing me to sell one of the best bikes that I‘ve ever found. This 1975 CB 400F Super Sport has only 3,353 miles. It is very hard to find Hondas this age with this low of miles. History: I purchased this bike one year ago from an elderly gentleman in Montana. He had several Hondas tucked away in his garage and he said he was tired of them being in his way. It looked like most of the nicks and bruises happened in the garage and for the most part I have already fixed them. It has a clear Montana title. It is in very good to excellent mechanical and cosmetic shape. As you can see, this bike is very nice! I regret having to sell it. I had a few more things to spot paint and work on, but I simply have run out of time and have to get my house ready for the market. Items Not Original: The battery, which will I will replace this week. The front tire is new, and replaced last year with less 50 miles on it. The rear tire was replaced just last month and has less than 20 miles on it. Just last week I purchased and installed new handle bars and a new throttle cable. The owner (an elderly man) said that when the bike was brand new he did not like the café style handle bars and had Honda put on the seventies throw back chopper bars. Cool then, maybe??? Not now! The bike did not feel right when I drove it and I wanted it back to original. Now it handles 100% better and feels right. As you can see the seat is perfect. The original seat was in very good condition, but there was one spot (less than an eighth of an inch) that looked like it was going to fail or split, so I recovered the seat and it looks exactly like the original. This summer I had the tank and side covers professionally painted. The tank and side cover are flawless. I had the decals put on prior to the clear coat being applied. I bought and installed the right front blinker light, it had a crack in the lens so I simply replaced the whole thing. The back tail light lens also had a very small crack in it so that has been replaced with new old stock. It was over $60 just for the lens. I found cheaper ones available on EBay, but wanted original Honda equipment if it was available. As you can see by the pictures, the Honda owner’s manual and the full set of the original tools are there along with the tool pouch which is located below the seat. Cosmetics: Small dent in speed odometer chrome ring and two cracks in speed odometer dial as well as minor damage to head light chrome ring. If you look close enough there is minor rust on rims and on the underside of the fenders, no dents. I have not had time to even clean theses spots and they may wipe off. The pipes and muffler are original and look great. The only issues are, a little rust spot (purely cosmetic) below where the exhaust comes out. There is good size scuff on the bottom of the muffler but is not too noticeable. The frame paint is original with some chipping in the normal high-wear places. The worst spot is visible on the head light and around the handle bars, still very minor but wanted to mention it. This can easily be fixed. All informative and warning labels are intact, legible, and in good shape. On the left side of the bike there is a chrome access plate with Honda written in black. As you can see by the picture, there are a few scuff marks which can be buffed out. Mechanical: Engine- starts and runs great. The sound that the 4-one exhaust makes is amazing. As seen in pictures, carbs were disassembled and cleaned this summer, less than 3-months ago. Only non-ethanol gas has been put in since. Transmission- shifts smoothly through all six gears. The only thing mechanically that may need adjusting, is the front brake. On my last ride it seemed to be a bit tight. I touched the disc brake with my bare hand and it was warm, but not too hot to hold on to it. That may be the way this bike is, but needs to be checked. The paint is missing off the front brake caliper area so you might want to repaint that as well. That is up to the new owner to decide. Electrical: All lights, switches, indicators, and gauges work properly, except for the high beam switch. The previous owner added a switch on top of the headlight to turn the head light off. The battery is brand new and the receipt will be included with the title. I added the eBay feature that allows photo enlargement to a group of pictures to allow closer inspection. Again, if you need specific photographs or more information than I supplied, just let me know. If you want to discuss some things, send me your number and the best time to call back. A personal inspection is possible. The bike is located in Hermiston, Oregon, simply send me a message and I will make myself available. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, I have had previous customers use uShip.com on past motorcycles and I have no complaints. I will assist in any way possible. The bike is sold as is with no refunds, no warranty and no return. I have followed most of the auctions here on eBay for the 1975 CB 400F Super Sports. With the exception of a few, this is one of the nicer ones I’ve seen. It’s not quite as original as the last one on Ebay that did not hit the reserve after the final bid of $3,753, but this bike is most original except the paint and the pieces that I described above. Shipping will be responsibility of the buyer but I will make every effort to accommodate the process. Bidders with a negative will need to contact me before bidding, or I will cancel the bid. A non-refundable $500 down payment is required within 48 hours and full payment within 7 days, unless prior arrangements are made. I prefer the balance in the form of a bank check/ cashier’s check, and it must clear my bank first before pick-up or shipping. I will mail the title via registered mail once the check clears. Again, please feel free to ask any questions. As you can see by the description I have been 100 % upfront about this bike so bid with confidence, many will lose out, but one will not! Please remember this bike has very low mileage 3,353 at the time of this listing (won't be more than 20 miles more put on and that would be for test drives).
