Vehicle Detail
Many are going to recognize this listing from the past week. Thanks to hercherbkgzubfhs not paying...it's back. It seems he is in Brazil and did not have his parents permission to buy it. Or so the anonymous typist on the other end of the email says. Come on eBay, vet these folks!!! So it's back and you get a second chance at it. Continuing the Spring Valley Mustang collection sell off, today we post a 1966 Mustang sedan which is either a parts car or a restoration about to happen; you decide. The back story; this one was purchased by the current owner / seller about 1994 from the widow of a fellow who had started to restore the car and then died before finishing it. He had rebuilt the V-8 engine and three speed transmission and started stripping and sanding in preparation for painting when his health went south and everything stopped. When purchased it ran and drove but had not been started since, until yesterday, when I put in a hot battery and drizzled some gas down the two barrel carb and cranked er up. It will not run for long or even idle of course but it does fire and for a brief few seconds sounds sweet. The gas tank is long since evaporated and the throttle plate is frozen so there is no revving it. The pictures speak for themselves but for the record I must say that every exterior panel that could or has collected rain or dew has rust; doors, hood, top, and places in between. See the pictures. The one redeeming thing? The unibody floor pan is 100% original and pretty much rust free. That is to say there are no holes through the floor. There is some minor surface rust but it will clean up easily. There is a ripple in the right 1/4 panel where it looks like someone leaned into it really hard. Lets call it a butt dent. The dash is factory original as well with no cutting or drilling trying to make a modern radio fit. The stock AM radio is in place. The shifter and gauges and steering wheel appear to be original as well. The two brackets from the fire wall to the shock towers are missing and look to be recently removed, another reason the sellers are motivated to move these cars and parts out; mysterious disappearances! Though not seen in any of the photos the factory air cleaner is here and comes with the car. The seats have exploded at the seams and are sun scorched. The chrome is weather pitted. The front bumper is missing, another mysterious disappearance! All four tires are garbage, only two will hold air, so winner will have to bring some wheels and tires to load it. Or I will assist or load with forklift. So, is it worth saving and restoring? Or is it a parts car? Buyers Choice!! If you have the time and the skills it absolutely can be saved as the bottom is honest, firm, and square. If all you need is the drive train, bid accordingly. It goes to a new home at the end of the sale. Personal inspection is recommended, no, urged, and I am available most any day, by appointment. Otherwise please ask questions before you bid. The sale is absolute and as - is with no refunds, period. We are here to sell it not send it out "on approval". We can and will hold it for free, once paid for, for thirty days freee while transportation is being arranged otherwise it's $25 per day after that. Clear California title in Non-Op status so no fees are due. The beginning bid is what we have been offered locally by a family "friend" / fellow collector, who hasn't bought any of those posted yet! And, as before, we are using eBay to offer it to the eBay universe in order to maximize the return for the seller and, despite the inevitable emails, and despite saying so here someone will ask anyway, I absolutely will not end it early. For those of you following these sales the past few weeks the next car up will be a rusty 66 Ranchero (V-8 automatic) followed by another 66 Mustang sedan (6 cyl ) with interesting flared front fenders (another great story) and all of the remaining loose parts - bits- and pieces. So check back in a few days!
