1988 Toyota 4WD cargo van - 2.2L 4cylinder engine; 5 speed manual transmission; true 4x4 with 2 speed transfer case and manual locking hubs.
We found this rare vehicle out in Arizona and had it shipped over. It is rust free underneath and still in original paint. The mileage is low for a vehicle of this age, but especially for a Toyota. This van runs and drives very well. The engine is smooth & strong, the transmission, suspension, brakes etc are all good. The a/c is frigid, even on a hot, humid day here in NC.
Our reconditioning included:
- Thorough checkover
- 4 new tires
- fuel tank drained & cleaned
- new fuel pump & filter
- Oil & filter change
- new spark plugs
- new drive belt
- new thermostat
- Reman battery installed
- All 3 wiper blades replaced
- state inspection
- Test drive. Subsequent test drives were also required, but just becuase it's fun to drive and has cold air. We also test drove the van out in our storage yard to check that the 4WD works - which it does.
- New AM/FM CD player & 2 speakers installed
The van was very original when we got it. It was dusty and clearly had been sitting for a little while, but came right back to life mechanically and cleaned up pretty well also. There are numerours cosmetic imperfections, the worst of which is a dent in the roof, There are also some minor dings & dents on both sides and plenty of stone chips on the nose. The cab area is original and in decent shape for the age. The dash has some cracks, not surprising given the hot climate the van was in. The cargo area is all covered in a padded tweed material. It may not be Toyota factory original, but is well done, fits correctly and looks like it has been in the van a long time. The cargo area including the carpet is clean for a work van that is 26 years old.
Please review all of the photos, read the description and as questions accordingly. We will share what we know. These vans are durable and long lasting. We are confident that this is a good vehicle. For out of town buyers, we will gladly pick you up at the local airport or train station during business hours. There is no reason not the drive the van home. In some cases we can assist with shipping but do not cover the cost.
Unlike most of our vehicles, this van is not for sale on the lot. It is on ebay only, mostly because we don't know exactly where to price it. It is a good vehicle and a rare vehicle that we know somebody must be looking for, but also somewhat obscure.
