Vehicle Detail

This 1977 HONDA 750cc Four Hondamatic model CB750A has been garaged all of its life, and from a couple of feet away still looks showroom-new. The mileage is unusually low - only 7478 as of August 30. It may have a few more miles on it by the time this auction ends but the final mileage will be 7500 or less. The finishes are all Honda factory original. Nothing has been repainted, touched up, or replated. The exhaust system is correct and original and in near-perfect condition, which is extremely rare for any Honda 750 Four. The paint on the tank has a few very tiny nicks and one minute ding smaller than a pinhead and so shallow it is only visible when the light glances over the tank from certain directions. I've added yellow arrows in one photo drawing attention to this. There are no dings, dents or cracks in the sidecovers or fenders. The seat has no tears or other issues and is still soft and extremely comfortable. I've owned this rare classic for many years but stopped riding motorcycles in 2004. Since then it has been stored in my garage (which is attached to the house) and has been started every year or so to keep all the seals in good order. The tank interior is clean and free of any rust. The bike is fitted with a high quality a roll bar which has been on the bike since new and is in near-new condition. The grips were changed by the previous owner (see photos) but they are very comfortable so I left them in place. Other than these two items the bike is completely stock, just as it came from the Honda factory in 1977. I installed a new heavy duty battery this week in preparation for sale. The bike started in a split second with the touch of a button and it still runs like new. The motor is tight with no leaks and it runs cleanly (as illustrated in the video below, taken August 29) with no blow-by or other smoke or discoloration in the exhaust. At <8K miles this OHC 750 four-cylinder is barely broken in. The Hondamatic transmission is in fully working order and is smooth as silk. One ride on this bike is enough to convince anyone why Honda thought an automatic transmission would be ideal for a powerful touring motorcycle. The tachometer, speedometer, odometer, lights, signals, horn, instruments, clutch, and transmission are in fully working order. The rear brake works as new. The front brake has full stopping power however the caliper is occasionally just a little sticky. This is from sitting, and may clear up with riding. It is not an issue when riding. The front tire is a high quality Metzeler Perfect ME 77 100/90-19 57H and the rear is a Metzeler Perfect ME77 130/90-17 68H. Both are in excellent condition. I've uploaded many high resolution photos illustrating the outstanding condition of this vintage Honda, which I'm selling as described and illustrated. Please look closely at the pictures and ask any questions prior to bidding. This auction includes the motorcycle along with the original Honda owner's manual, 2 keys, the original tool kit, and an original HONDA Service Manual as shown. All loose items must be picked up with the motorcycle or the buyer must cover actual cost of shipping/postage. I'm a private individual, not a dealer. I have a clear Pennsylvania title in my name. The vehicle is being sold as described and illustrated but as-is, where-is with no warranties or guarantees expressed or implied. The bike is available for inspection by seriously interested bidders by appointment - please contact me through the eBay message system. The motorcycle must be picked up at my residence in PA zip 19350 approximately 1 hour from Philadelphia, 2 hours from New York or Washington DC. I will not ship or crate this motorcycle. I prefer pickup by the buyer but will work with the buyer's bonded shipper to arrange a mutually convenient pickup. The bike must be picked up within 3 weeks of auction closing date. Here's a chance to own a classic Honda OHC 750 in rare original condition. It turns heads whenever it's out in public. I'm also selling my only other motorcycle - a 1979 Honda CB750 DOHC 10th Anniversary Limited Edition, also in nearly-new original condition, which is shown along with the 750A in one of the photos. The Limited is listed in a separate auction. On Sep-03-14 at 04:38:17 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: this is a 1977 (not a a 1979 - the one instance where the listing says 1979 is an error)
