Vehicle Detail
1968 Mercedes Benz 280SE four door sedan survivor. VIN 10801812002107 (ebay will not recognize the older type VIN so I had to enter all 9s to fill their space) The mileage reads 19,855. This is the correct mileage. The original owner gave the car to his son. We bought the car from the son. PA DoT marks titles "mileage exempt" on older cars that do not register 100,000 miles. .Black. The car has a decent repaint which is probably 3 to 5 years old. The car was originally dark blue. They did a quality color change doing the door jambs, trunk and under hood. There are some areas on the cowl where you can see blue if you make the effort. The lat owner worked with the church and thought a black car was more appropriate. .Interior; It is the dark brown or Cognac color with the MB tex material (vinyl). The seats are in good condition. The door panels are in good condition. The tan headliner is does not have any tears but shows the usual dirt and stains from age. The dash pad has a crack (see photos). The wood trim has lost it's gloss and could use another coat of finish. The wood is not rotted or warped. Carpets are fair condition. Usable as they are but showing wear under the driver's feet and threshold. .Accessories; It has the original Thermo King air conditioning system which is working. The car has power windows. The radio was updated to a JVC with a CD player. The installation was professionally done. The windows have an aftermarket dark tint. The car has intermittent wipers. It has a sunroof with a glass slider. It has the original power brakes. .Drive Train; The engine is 2.8 mechanical injection. Type 280 8-9.5E The casting number on the cylinder head is 1800160001 It runs well and has had regular service. It has a recent rebuilt a/c compressor. It has new drive belts. It has a fresh service and oil change. It has had a new radiator installed two years ago. The transmission is an Automatic that works as it should with crisp shifts. Wheels are original stock steel. Tires are in good condition. .Body/Chassis; The body shows well under the repaint. It does not appear to have filler underneath. The body is solid with only one rust repair to the floor that was well done. See photos of the car when it was up on a lift. This is a good driving survivor car that won't win the top trophy but looks good, drives good and will give you years of service. Plan to pick up the car in Ono PA 17077 we are about 15 miles NorthEast of Hershey PA near Fort Indiantown Gap Military Base. We are two and a half hours from the port of New York. Delivery can be arranged for $350 additional.
